And very nice it is too :y
Started in Monmouth and went as far over as Bridgend, via Caldicott. Some very nice (very narrow/steep/windy) roads. Would have been a touch less stressful in a car though ::)
Best bit: the drive to Caldicott from Monmouth, very scenic 8)
Worst bit: the hour it took to get from the A470/M4 junction to Radyr due to random 7.5t weight limits >:( journey out from there took five minutes :-X. Running out of hours twenty minutes from base was almost as frustrating :-\
All in all, I liked what I saw, met several friendly people and it was a balmy 25° and glorious sunshine all day 8)
If any one is considering the trek, my only suggestion would be to take the car/motorbike, leaving the 26t truck at home ::)
Did consider popping into Seths for lunch, but wanted to get home before Sunday ;D
Ps which Newent is the Meet at? I now know of two, one near Newton, tother more or less between Gloucester and Bath...

Glad you enjoyed your visit Al - we've got some fantastic scenery 'round these parts! :y
Folk are indeed friendly ... though best to avoid Big Yin's crowd - trust me :o
Try dropping me a PM next time that you're down this way - maybe we could sort a meet or some grub/cuppa etc ;)

Been to the south. Mumbles, Gower peninsular, Worms head etc. oh, and the Raf jets rounding the head on practice bombing runs to the bombing range by Pendine sands across the bay.
Actually, I've just reminded myself how much I love it there. :y

We're off on our Jollys to Porthmadog in September, will be the 1st time I've been to Wales , looking forward to it :)

MrsT parents live in Monmouth, it's a lovely area. Fantastic views over the country side :)

I think last time I was in Wales was around 1964/5.....had to go with my dad to persuade my brother who had left home to come back. Was some place near Neath with a name that sounded like (and I apologise to all the welsh) Pontry re le fen ;)
Nearest I have been since is Bristol !!!!

No need to apologise, terb! ;D
Sounds like it was Pontrhydyfen (pronounced 'Pont-reed-er-ven'), that you visited.
A few miles north of Port Talbot, it's situated at the junction of the Afan and Pelenna valleys, and roughly halfway between Neath and Seth's Towers.
Here's a piccy nicked from the Bus Nostalgia thread:

The Bont Fawr (pronounced 'Bont-vow-rrr') Aqueduct still stands to this day.
Pontrhydyfen's real claim to fame is that it's the birthplace of actor Richard Burton. ;)

Thanks, Seth....that is exactly it.....and the piccy brings back memories as I remember it :y
