Title: Pop Up Fuel Garages.
Post by: Varche on 01 June 2013, 15:14:30
Do you know of one around you? perhaps best to say "Yes , a mate uses one down the road" !! ;D

I am fairly sure I used one in the city near us. A chap said you can get cheap diesel from this place. It looked like a bus depot . No prices on any pump, big queues but quick service. Pay cash or by card. Price was about 15% cheaper than normal. I have looked for it since but it has never been open.

Assuming one of your mates has used such a place, how much cheaper is the fuel in the UK?

Not cheap enough, Mr Varche.

Without having to pay tax and VAT, they should be knocking it out for about 80p a litre. :y

Then I'd be interested. :y

Plenty of farmers in Lincs who'd let you have some red diesel, surely?

Bleached srm in a fashion they use hydrochloric acid, and its common in the emerald island and its getting very common over here but customs are getting very quick at raiding them, about 48 hrs when they get a tip. :'(

A big problem in the north of this country but creeping south too.
Horror stories abound about swift pump failures and expensive repairs . If it is bleached diesel you are being offered then my advice is to avoid it .
I only buy from locally well known or branded sources.

Extract from The Journal .IE.
"The bleaching agents look like bags of cement, so you can imagine what they do to car engines if the laundered fuel ends up being sold on the garage forecourt. The heat of the engine causes the residue to solidify, causing serious damage. There are also environmental implications and a concern about waste products."
