Title: Ran fine but now won't start
Post by: tOnYoYo on 05 June 2013, 20:15:21
Hi people!

Just did a few short errands in my 2002 3.2 Elite, parked up to get stuff out the boot and now she won't start!  :'(

Seems to be turning over ok, but won't even try to actually fire up. Any ideas?

Thanks guys!

Any Fault Codes? from a Peddle Trick.

Edit: take it you havn't parked up on a slope with the Fuel Light on?

crank sensor  :-\

Is the engine management light on?

If so you can read the fault codes using this guide:

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.0 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.0)

Is there plenty of fuel in the tank? Low fuel and parking on a slope can cause this.

Another possible cause is a faulty crank sensor as this is a common problem.

wOW you guys are fast...  :D

The pedal trick worked for me (can you believe I don't own a paperclip?).

0335 - Crank position sensor...

Is that... Bad..?  :(

Yep. Replace with genuine only

Approx £70 bad,for the part, buy genuine part only. And about 10 minutes  to fit once you've read the relevant guide on here. :y
Tip-dont waste time trying to remove the old one from the car.Just leave it hanging in limbo. The wiring from the new one will use a different route anyway,as you will find out in the guide. :y

That is not helping with my house purchase...  :-\

Can I just rub the old one or something? Hit it with a spanner? Buy it dinner? ;D

Nope.Due to the wiring being routed so close to the exhaust manifold,it breaks down inside eventually. It may decide to work again temporarily and then stop again once the engine has warmed up. This is why the replacement needs to have the wiring routed differently,as the problem would rear its head again in time. :y

Just think of the price of a crank sensor as being something similar to what a garage would've charged you for diagnosing what you've just found out for free via the peddle trick  :y :y :y

10 minute job they said...
It'll be easy they said...

 :o

How do you /remove/ the sensor? Is it held in place by Thor himself?!  ???

Advice appreciated! It's raining and the job's half done...  :'(

Small torx bolt removed at the sensor itself, near the oil filter. It should just pop out, small flat head screwdriver might be needed to wiggle it out.

Pop the scuttle off, for easy access to route/plug it in  :)
