Title: The old girl passed.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 06 June 2013, 17:27:32
I'm very pleased. The tester said there were a couple of minor niggles, but he didn't think them serious enough to be classed 'advisory'. :y

Blown number plate bulb (yes I know I should have checked, Mr EMD)......and exhaust pipe rubbing against the rear a/r bar.

Other than that the underside of the car looks like a new pin. :y

Total costs.....£66.26.....which included oil and filter change, plus sump plug sealing ring, and a 12v 5w no plate bulb.

Quite reasonable, I think. :y

Blown number plate bulb (yes I know I should have checked, Mr EMD)...... ...

On a recent test on my Omega, its number plate light wasn't working either ....... I didn't check  :-[ When I removed it (as Mr MOT Tester was under the car) I discovered that the lamp assembly wasn't there  ??? I'd had the rear bumper off & had forgotten to feed the cable back to the hole in the bumper. The light was actually working under the car so I told him he couldn't fail it!  :y

Looking at the new (white) certificate I think I've messed up.

The old certificate would have expired on 14th July 2013.......but my new certificate is only valid to 5th June 2014. :'(

Imbecile. :-\

I'd sell her to you, Mr VXL, but what stops me is that an equivalent replacement ( Vauxhall, Audi, BMW, Mercedes)  a would probably cost me three or four times as much......unless of course you have £6,000 in loose change. :y :y :y

Not a problem sir, although I expect you to change the loose change for crisp new £50 notes to the same value.  :y

Beware of  reminders from the garage. :-\.......and read them carefully.

I thought my MOT was up on the 15th June ( which is why I had the car tested this afternoon, the 5th)........Not so, the car was tested on the 15th June last year but the MOT was valid until 14th July......Doh

I've lost about six weeks of MOT because I didn't check properly.  :-[ :-[

Not everyone is as mechanically minded Mr Nach. Its a real worry for some people. Mines as up together as I know how, but I do have little doubts on things like rust on the chassis rails etc. when I put mine in.

I know its fine really, but there's that little doubt. You know, things like air fresheners do catch people out. ;D

Sass has clearly never met my MOT tester ;D

Actually, I often give him something obvious to fail it on to make him happy, such as a old indicator bulb, or blown numberplate light. He then seems to spend more time revving the nuts off it to get the cats hot enough  :-X
