Y188NFA 2.2 petrol manual saloon
Son Ben's car is with me for MOT test. He mentioned slight misfire last week, then today he mentioned orange light on.This is the picture of an engine light, not the spanner light. I tried the two pedal trick, no codes.
Mileage is 84305. We bought it a year ago on e-bay, MOT failed, needing track rods. I fitted new track rods, then it passed MOT. It had a Timax TYX 321996 cat front pipe fitted May 2011.
Does that light mean emissions, or engine fault? I fear it is cat again, but could it be just plugs? I have no other service history, though there was enough evidence of cam belt change (white dots inside cam belt cover) for me not to change cam belt on purchase.

hi, iv'e also got the 2.2 that has the EML come on, but after checking the codes and clearing them several times iv'e come to the conclusion that its a dodgy wire/connector, so it may not be the cat playing up. suggest you get the codes read before you start putting money into it.

Does that light mean emissions
Yep.
Timax TYX 321996 cat front pipe
Probable cause of emissions light.
Never buy an aftermarket cat for an Omega. Complete unadulterated shite. Genuine only even if it`s S/H
I fear it is cat again,
If you prefer to replace with genuine Pm me

Reads a code reader to really prove, but its emissions related, and those Timax cats are appallingly bad. RobG above was being far too kind about them.
