Title: First flight of Airbus A350 today
Post by: Rods2 on 14 June 2013, 17:41:11
This is the Airbus answer to Boeing's Dreamliner. First deliveries of the A350 are expected in 2014.

A success in the making apparently.  The order book is already looking very healthy and profitable! :y :y

More than a facelift, it's been on a big carbon diet and been baked in an oven. Unlike the all metal A330 :)

Next door neighbour's son is one of the engineers featured on the BBC clip today. His proud mum emailed us earlier.

He was flying gliders solo at the minimum age  and was going up in them long before that during his training of course - he has a total passion for aircraft.

At least two (it might be three, I'd have to ask) have been flying test flights for some time now.. my Dad was largely responsible for commissioning (and training PAG staff) the autoclaves used to cure the fuselage sections at Nordenham & Augsberg (after the british company originally putting them in went bankrupt) :y

[edit] Nicked this picture from his Facebook account:

Each of those dark squares at the back is a 2m tall heat exchanger (for scale)
