I spend a bit of time on Fleabay & A.T. and it appears to me that some sellers are asking top prices for their motors.
What do you guys think and am i being greedy? Migs only of course. :y

Does seem a fair few above £2k that are pushing the boat out a bit , guess they are only covering the add and warranty :-\ Private ones seem to be worth the money :)

I have seen a 79,000 mile 3.2 Elite for £2,995. To me that is worth the money and I am tempted........very tempted this time. :D :D :D :)

I still have my doubts thats genuine miles, you only need half a brain cell to see a low miles Omega is worth a lot more than that. So why would someone let one go for such a low price, even with faults?
They are easily clocked, my 140k 3.2, has a better interior than an 60k 3.2 up the road. It is also in far better condition underneath, none of the exhaust heat shields are rusty! In reality, miles mean nothing, my 2.2 goes better with 164k on it, compared to 84k when I bought it :)
-
Should add if those miles are correct, I think you said it had an oil cooler failure?
So what on earth was done to that poor 3.2 to fail a stainless steel oil cooler, in less than 52,000 miles :o
Must have been run on pure water :-\

Pretty sure its right it sounds sweet all the carpets and seats are like new, pedal rubbers look about right, it was in the auction from a dealer, so they just wanted to rid it, it looked a little sad as somebody had taken an aerosol to the bonnet, :D ::) not sure why though as T-cut took it all off and back to original paint. So a little work and came up great. :y
-
I do wonder about the stainless steel cooler on later cars.Is it fact, urban myth, legend etc ? :-\ Ive had a 2.6 and 3.2 (both around 120,000 miles) with failed oil coolers.

Probably never had a water/antifreeze change, but it is all clean now, and the new cooler was a lot different and more robust than the original, I have done around 2000 miles since and still nice and clean and no probs with it. :y

I'll have to agree with that assessment ..
My 2002 2.2 got it 4 years ago with just over 100k on the clock have spent on it over the years nothing major mainly styling to make it look like an elite and usual maintenance parts and its got a little bit of a rear arch problem starting, fair bit of surface rust underneath, air-con doesn't work never has apart from that its sound...
Now the 2002 "51" 3.2 has 189,000 on the clock, underneath is nowhere near as rusty underneath, steering feels better, engines sweet pulls like a train, gearbox is slinky smooth interior is on par with the 2.2 same with arches if anything better only starting on the 3.2..
Saying that both have had their fair few problems some ongoing hay ho ::)
And I've been to see a lot of Omegas over the years many under a 100k .. An example a "52" 3.2 Elite in black had 65k ish on the clock polish chap owned it :-X anyways was rusty undrtneath . bodywork Lacquer peeling off roof, bonnet, boot etc. full of scratches, dents, really bubbly arches, interior stank and leather was worn and hard and did I mention it was smelly inside ;D engine was tappety and full of mayo with blue fumes coming out of the oil cap apparently engine had new gaskets and new timing belt and a full service :o was pretty cheap mind £950 odd but someone would have had their hands full with that one.
Same goes for many other low milage cars some looked ok and sounded ok but something was always off with them, High milage ones are not always better but they way I think it must have been pretty well looked after to reach that high milage in the fist place. Did see an ex plod with around 250k on the clock in star sliver a 3.2 auto body work was average and surprisingly arches where spotless few dents here an there interior worn but functional. £800 what put me off was the engine was spewing oil after a Mild/hard test run and being basic.
Knackered now going to bed, take no notice its tired dribble talk :D ;D

You can never be 100% sure with any secondhand car, ;) but I am pretty sure this is okay as it came with paperwork to back up the mileage, I have been in the motor trade for around 20 years and know the signs and the pitfalls to look for and this seems to be a result, :) even if it needed some work to get it back to what it is now. Although it had its share of mayo in filler tube it comes clean when driven for a decent amount of miles, absolutely no smoke what so ever, the wheel arches are all as new and no signs of bodywork done on them, underneath is clean too, It was previously owned by a elderly Gent that didn't do many miles, in the year, I found this out from the paperwork that came with it. 8) So as far as I can see it seems all legit. :y

My old 95 2l has now done 168k, so its showing it,s age, (bit like me :P). But i must say that engine/gearbox wise
i don,t think it,s run ever better than it is now. Went to Rippon and back last week, approx 400mls, never missed a beat. :)
