As many know I work for Sky, which has recently launched this:
http://www.nowtv.com/ (http://www.nowtv.com/)
Aimed at the likes of Netflix/Lovefilm (but offers much better, and much more recent films) it allows unlimited films and TV shows, without a contract, delivered over the interwebs.
Normally its £8.99 for 3 Months, then £14.99 a month. But I can discount it to £5 for 6 months, which is just £0.83 a month. :o
Works on Xbox, Mac/PC, YouView, Roku, iPads, iPhones and selected Android handsets.
If anyone is interested drop me a PM, I'll also say this now, any people who join up today and say "they have been browsing the site for months, please can I have a code" won't be getting a discount code, only established members here :y

Sadly no App for that, no PS3 one either. Linux would be nice too, pop it on a Raspberry Pi :)

There is a NowTV app on my ps3 although haven't subscribed, Think there's a offer currently going for the ps3 3 months for £1 i think.

They need to upgrade their Wiki, never mentioned a PS3 App ;D
Far as I know it was £8.99 for 3 months is standard offer, are you sure its £1? Ping me the details :)

In your dreams, as Sky would never give source code, and binaries for x86 wouldn't work.
Now, if you did an MCE plugin....

Can I get it through my sky+ box? I don't subscribe to movies ( £78 a month is enough).
No, it is aimed at non Sky customers who don't want the subscription. So its on various internet enabled devices.
If you have a laptop, you could hook that up to the TV...

Hey Tunnie, I've been browsing the site for months now (here it comes) but I can explain... I lost my previous account so just signed up for a new one today. So anyways 'ol pal, can I have a code? ;D
On a serious note, is this service limited to the U.K only?

Yes, Geo-restricted to UK IP's only, this is due to content rights :y

Your only option would be VPN tunnel into a UK host, then stream from there.
There are various solutions out there for iPlayer and such. But for this, you would need a host here to connect to.

You know I was really thinking about doing that but I wasn't sure how ethical the mindset here on the forum was. Nice to know being cheeky is allowed, haha. :P

Can't see why, its not illegal, there are genuine reasons for it. Need a reliable connection though.
Think i'm down to one code now though!

NOOOO!! :(
By reliable connection do you mean on the UK side?
Any suggestions on which VPN to choose?

Got this email today from NowTV ::) :-* ...

Tried it on the PS3 last night, Picture quality is on par with Netflix but their App is a little disorganised compared to Netflix but better than LoveFilm streaming service PS3 App.. Although did have a niggle with NowTV on the PS3 the picture every 15 or so seconds the picture would move as in change size although could have just been that particular movie didn't have time to try any more.

Sorry no, not my area really. Do you have any friends connections you could "borrow" :-\
Would be quite expensive to leave a setup here, just for that if going abroad. :(

They are not officially advertising the PS3 App as far as i know, its a beta only release so not going to be perfect. See if you get same issues on another device, think you have an iPad or iPhone?
Thanks for screenshot, never seen what is actually sent afterwards!

VPNs are generally inefficient, and aren't suited to asyncronous speeds. You will need good bandwidth between the vpn endpoints.

Their also doing a NowTV box thing to add to your TV... Might get that at only £10 the PS3 app is rubbish tbh..

I've bought one, could not blag a free one ::)
It's basically a Roku Box (Android version of Apple TV), Sky did a deal with them to get NowTV on Roku. Its very similar minus a network port, SD card slot and few other bits, but for £9.99 including a HDMI cable, its a bloody bargain!
Sky are loosing money on them, with aim of getting them back in subs.
Video How2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmQBcbVLWZc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmQBcbVLWZc)
What is Plex? http://www.plexapp.com/ (http://www.plexapp.com/)
-
Also considering Roku starts at £49.99, it's a no brainer :y
-
Forgot to say why I put those links in ::)
You can install Plex by popping it in developer mode, Plex is a Media server, where it can play all of your local media content. You can also install loads of other Roku Apps this way (as described in the video)
-
Wireless thingy for tv will be here soon and free movies on the tv for 6 months thanks to an angry customer... its good to talk ;D ;D :y Thanks Sky !
-
Bought one... :y .. As said a bloody bargain, Thought there was a catch of some kind for a second ;D

Anywhere with a good 3G signal or above is fine, often was checking Sky Sports 2 for the ashes out and about, such as in Westfield shopping centre :y
