Noticed a intermittent noise that sounds like its comming from underneath the car when your sat on tick over in traffic but stops when moving ??? Apart from sounding annoying it don't sound right
-
Knackered clutch release bearing?
-
air leak?
-
Holed exhaust :-\

;D ;D ;D
my initial thought was air leak. spray the top end in key spots with carb cleaner and listen for the idle to change
-
air leak?
Would have thought an air leak would cause a rough idle if its enough to be heard easily
-
If it appears to come from beneath the car, get beneath the (pit, lift, axle stands) and listen there.

Good advice mate ??? ;)

cooling fans :-\

try pinching the idle control valve hose..slowley until the car almost stalls, i bet that stops the noise, you will hear the difference.
mine started doing this when the coil (DIS) pack started playing up. the best i could figure was the ecu was adjusting the idle to compensate for the rough running caused by the coil

It's not idling rough
-
Also noticed today when it starts doing it if you bring the revs up it stops or if you blip it the noise changes slightly as it returns to idle ? Very strange just can't seem to pin point the noise :'(

So it isn't the idle air control valve then :-\

Where do I find that sounds like its underneath
-
its your alternator--take auxiliary belt off-start car-noise will be gone-turn off engine--spin alternator-by hand-you will hear it
-
It's not always there seems to be when it sits at idle for a period of time of comes off a run

Idle air control valve (IAC) is on the side of the inlet manifold on top of the engine.
Symes may have the answer, the alternator is almost at the bottom of the engine. :y

mine was like that--really could notice at idle-but when revved-didnt notice it--Check out what I am telling you mate--bet I am right :y :y

Mine wasnt either but the computer picked up that the coil was on its way out. I would try it , cost nothing and takes 2 sec...who knows!?
