Title: Tomtom Go 700 series Pic
Post by: Big_Al on 22 June 2013, 08:49:23
Hi all,
does anyone have access to a Tomtom Go 700   or 500 or 300   model that  they could photograph the underside of for me

I have what I believe to be a Docking shoe for this series Tomtom already neatly fitted & wired to my MV6.

This was fitted when I got the car . 2 cables run very neatly from the "shoe" into the corner by the passenger side central dash air vent . I am

presuming that one is the 12v supply & the other possibly connection to the sound system of the car  :-\

I need a photo of the underside of the tomtom head  unit to see if the connections etc. are the same.

I intend to buy a used tomtom  but want to make sure it is the right one for this docking shoe . . . ::) ::)

Been searching E bay & You Tube for a picture & have narrowed it down to this series model . But cannot find a clear picture of the underside .

Any help greatly appriciated  . . .    TIA   Al  :y

Hi all,

Update:     just had a reply from the previous owner this morning. He cannot remember which model it was that was fitted but . .

That it was a Tomtom  GO  :y

He says  the mounting bracket & " docking shoe" are all fully wired to the car for power & sound  8) 8)  just need to clip on the tomtom

head unit & it will work ::) ::) .

So from my point of view I think  it is well worth pursuing this little project to have a cheap  Sat nav system which is probably as good

as ,if not better than the factory fitted CID system fitted to the Elites .

So . bottom line is  . . . still need a decent picture of the underside of the Tomtom Go 700 series  ;) ;)

TIA     Al :y

I can't find a pic of the base of a 700 GO, but here is a pic of a Desktop Docking unit (essentially the same as an in-car unit without the windscreen adapter) which, if the same connector as the one in your car will confirm that the 700 will fit. Incidentally, the connector fits the Tomtom GO 500, 600 & 700 satnav versions so you have a choice. Hth :y

Thanks Phil,    Sorted ,    that looks exactly the same except there is a metal plug rising out of the hole directly behind the multi connector .

This pin/plug looks as if it would be the power supply pin as it is the same type as used on my guitar effects units for power .

Sorry i can't post a pic of my docking shoe , but have extreme difficulty in getting pics on here  :-[ :-[ :-[

but it does look as if it is the correct one .

and thanks for the tip on more suitable tomtom models that will fit  :y :y :y

Oof at it's best again  ;) ;)

thanks,   Al

Sorry to be late. only just read this. I have a tomtom 700 go and it is complete with everything including remote control.

Last time I tried to update it though it seems tomtom are no longing supporting this model with new maps, such a shame as was knocking on the door of £300 when new (dad bought it new)

If I can help in anyway just ask.

thanks Mantahatch,

I would still like to see a picture of  the underside  . .where it locates on the "docking shoe" to confirm there is an oblong  multipin connector & a single round pin connection just behind the multipin  one  :y

The round plug on it's own in the base is for an external antenna. I had to get one of these and run a GPS mouse to the back screen of the car as the heat reflective screens shield the GPS signal.

You have no patience Mr. TB   ::). . . . .  .

But I hope it's not your one that someone has found , picked up & put on flea bay then  . . . ;D ;D ;D ;D

Only gone for this old "Go" model because all the required wiring install & docking shoe  is in place in  my Mig . ;) ;)

not expecting too much for fourteen quid though  ;D ;D  But I won't try to use it on the Aston Express Way then  ;) ;) ;)

Its a single function device, it should be good at what it does. It wasn't, so it had to go. I opened the window first.

NCDR1500 in MV6 and NCDC2013 in the Elite. With gayPhone as a backup for when I'm in other cars - like sunny Cyprus on Wed :D.

gayPhone is as shite as the Go's, but I cut it slack as its a multifunction device, thus master of none.
