New battery, fob lights up when buttons pressed. Tried ignition on, press lock for 10 and also 30 seconds, tried both buttons together with bugger all joy,
Any ideas?

Ign on, press any button a couple of times in quick succession.
If that doesn't work, has it ever worked?

I don't know if it worked previously, tis intended to be a spare as my spare was goosed and came from the scrappy. Sync you suggested didn't work sadly!

Funny that. Would be piss poor security if it did ;)
It needs programming to the car via Tech2.

My apologies, that was supposed to be a throw-away, tongue in cheek comment, but on re-reading, can see it could be taken the wrong way :-[. My intention was to be nothing other than light hearted, no offence meant :-[

Easy mistake to make. That's how BMW ones work, after all. ;)
(says my mate, who'd really like his X5 back) :-X

It was slightly cutting TB but I will forgive you :y I'm sure I have re-used salvaged 2 button ones previously though but it might have been another make :-\

Not on a RF remote Vauxhall, they have always needed programming to the car by dealer or somebody with dealer level diagnostics.
Some other marques have special programming keys, so owners can do programming, but these are usually deemed less secure.
