Title: Oil
Post by: the alarming man on 23 June 2013, 13:44:58
I have in the past always used the Vauxhall 10w 40 oil but I brought a box of Vauxhall oil yesterday and they have supplied me with 5w 30...so the question is, is the 5w 30 ok to use on a oil change for the omega?? :y

What price?  Fully synth is more expensive than semi - you may well have a real bargain :y

I use the 5w30 in mine. No problem at all. It's the specified oil for the 2001+ cars, after all. Mine's no spring chicken at 148K now, and completely oil tight.

Mine is 204k, and never needs an oil change, it uses the constant loss system ::)

I really must fix that leak  :-[

What's the current theory on where it's coming from? (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26795734/Smilies/kaffeetrinker_2.gif)

Possibly where dipstick enters block, but I failed last time I attempted to remove dipstick tube, and time was tight (but not as tight as that bloody tube ;D)

I use the same system on mine. Trouble is, I keep forgetting to check it :-[

It reminds me a soon as it starts rattling, then I chuck 2 litres in it ::)

The slightly disturbing thing is that I have yet to see the oil pressure light come on :-\

Mines about half a litre every 2 weeks or so.  What I don't understand is that half litre always ends up on my drive. Why can't it drop some in other carparks, and down the road?

Just place a tray under it on your drive, then every fortnight, filter it for insects, cats and small children and reuse :y

Yeah, let me know, so I can detour to a farm first.

I always get a warm feeling when I see you crawl out with a bit of straw stuck in your ear, smeared in cowshit. I know its childish and purile, but it always lifts my spirits...
