Hi guys got a ccr 2006 from ebay. It was working with the code supplied with it. Car has been sat for six months with no battery on it. Tried to put the code in today and it wont take it just keeps counting down on attempts left. Any ideas? :y

Inputting it correct Dan?
Ignition ON
Radio OFF
Switch radio ON whilst holding AS button & wait for the beep.
Input code, press AS again & wait for beep. Job done

Thats how I did it. :y
If the radio has been decoded before could it change itself? Or could it have been changed when it was decoded and the revert back to the original code? I probably sound thick but I cant think why it worked when I got it and now it doesnt. >:(

Had that on a friends car - try disconnecting battery, charging battery up, then reconnect battery and try again - worked for us ;)

Only just put the battery back on the car was charged up the night before. I will try disconnecting the stereo then reconnecting it and see what happens. :y

No, codes don`t alter unless reprogrammed by the likes of ourselves, and disconnecting batteries etc is only going to result in you waiting longer for the penalty timer to expire.
You are using the wrong code, plain and simple - whatever the code was when you got it, for some reason you have misplaced that and now relying on another number that has come to light - stereo is also telling you its the wrong one.
Enter correct code = working radio
Enter Incorrect code = radio counts down with a penalty timer
NO other explanation for it
If you get stuck and need a correct code, then I can help

The code is written on the stereo it was on there when I got it and it worked. I will have a check through paperwork and see if I can find something else to try. :y

I have a question relating to danny's problem. what powers the security/ memory chip on the ccr2006 m/board? because after playing around with pc's for a while, if you take the button battery off the board it resets the bios, just wondering if something similar has happened in this case, whereby the power source has been disconnected and the bios power source has been exhausted and cleared the memory chip ?

Try switching radio on then press & hold AS

Done that Rob. Radio does nothing says safe when you turn it on then says 7 safe when you press the as button. Ihave held it in for 2 minutes waiting for it to beep and nothing. I am getting frustrated now as it would let me enter the code on friday. Left over the weekend now does nothing. >:(

Safe 7 means at least 2 hours with radio and ignition switched on before you can try again. If still no joy will need to be reset

Unlike computers that require an on board battery to keep the alive, the code chips are programmable eeproms and will retain their data even if removed from the board and refitted. Very different type of technology used.
