19 dead, what a terrible tragedy. I just don't understand how this could happen to an 'elite' group, well trained and experienced. Some of the poor souls were found wrapped in fire blankets in a futile attempt to protect themselves from the flames. What a horrible way to go. :'(

Truely shocking! :o :'(

Fire is a frightening thing.
We watched one here in Spain. Wind direction turns and suddenly you are surrounded by flames.
What I heard was they "dug in". What a truly frightening way to go.

Very sad. :'( :'( Apparently the fire was started by lightning.

A tragedy indeed. It just goes to show that even the best can be caught out.Doesn't make it any easier or better but possibly they will have suffocated before the fire itself reached them. Not much consolation I know, horrible way to go whichever.

A tragedy indeed....... :'( :'( Apparently these fire blankets are special and are designed to protect if wrapped up in them, but the heat was just too fierce, a terrible way to go... :( :(
