Yes, after much soul searching the brain won over the heart and I decided against buying an old Bentley.
Instead I decided to upgrade my Omega to a 2003 (53) 3.2 V6 Elite Auto, with Sat Nav, and only 55,600 verified miles on the clock.
Px'd my old faithful 3.0 which was showing it's age at almost 127K miles, and I wanted more umph! The 3.2 certainly has that, very noticeably so, and even makes the old 3.0 seem slow! :D :D :D
Apart from that I was born in 1953, and the 10 year old has that 53 plate; well I do not want to fork out for a personalised number as I am doing up my home! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D

.........and yes, it was bought from Roger Budden of Sandhurst, with full service history, cam belt replaced 20K ago, another service at it's current mileage, with all Vx parts used, all new tyres, and a 12 month parts and labour warranty.
As I always say, you only get what you pay for!
PS Roger Budden is a nice guy who you can do business with :y :y :y

Congratulations on the new purchase.... Lovely looking example 8) :y :y

Low mileage 3.2 Elite's are thin on the ground, Lizzie......but that looks like one of the best available. :-* :-* :-* :-*
I love the colour ( what is it called?).....I'm sick to death of poxy star silver.
Go on wealthy lady, tell us all how much it set you back?.... :y :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
your new acquisition has scrubbed well, and so it should drive like new, its only just run in at those miles !!! ( I don't buy mine until they've done in excess of 100k.)

smarter people pick this colour--easiest to get matched panels for ;) smashed back door-trip to breakers--got one--no need to paint ;)

So Lizzie you got better deal--who wants a bentley when you can have a miggy--no brainer that one---miggy anyday :y :y :y :y Well done you-glad you made right decision :y :y :y

Rubens red with shale leather, which is indeed a nice colour combination.
I currently have in a 1982 Bentley Continental Convertible, which is a lovely vehicle...but required in excess of £6,000 worth of work for the last MOT, and this one's actually in good condition. So, as lovely as Bentley's are, an Omega is just as good and more cost effective. I have a 2001 Arnage 6.75, which again is lovely but the spec on that isn't quite as good as a 3.2 Elite. Hopefully I'll see your new acquisition in person at one of the meets :y

you lucky lucky moo ;)
I wish you a long and happy partnership with the beastie.... i used to be very fond of that sort of colour. Back in the 80's i had 2.0CD, then 2.2cd(x?) carlton in that sort of shade, before i started on the Senators.... (and indeed my 3rd sennie was that sort of colour also)

Sod the car. Have you had your 60th or is it later in the year? ::)
-
Thats a lovely car lizzie :-* ;) I nearly mentioned about an omega upgrade but thought the bentley thing was a decoy anyway ;D ;D
Enjoy your new ride and avoid supermarket parking ::) :y

Thanks, and saved about £1,000 on the maintenance I would have spent on the 3.0 :D :D :D :) :)
And for Opti........................
That last miggy cost £1,695, plus another £1,600 maintenance costs, and lasted 4 years. Got £500 PX off the new at £3495, and I have one of the last Omega's at a very low mileage. If it last 5 years, using the straight line depreciation I would have used in business, @ £700 per year is to me very acceptable for a fully loaded, excellent example that has an engine bay (pictures to follow) like a brand new car. Only seen that on a brand new car before!

Indeed, and it was those kind of facts that made my brain rule my heart...........a pity really as I still want a Bentley (perhaps though a 2013 model!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D)........but as you say the miggy is the best answer for me anyway. :y :y

Past without notice Steve........thank God!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
It was on June the 22nd, the same day as Hitler invaded Russia. |What does that say about my right wing, but socialist views?
Oooooops, politics again! Naughty Lizzie!! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Very nice indeed, interior colour compliments the deep red exterior. :y.Just needs a CID in the dash to complete the top spec of the rest of the car. ;)

I have met a few of those officers and they are lovely! :-* :-* :-*
Oh, you mean a "CID" in the dash...............what is that please? ??? ??? :D :D :D
-
i'm struggling to decide if the smilies there mean a jokey sarcasm was involved, or if you genuinely didn't realise the CID was Colour Information Display. the full colour, map showing top of the range version of the Omega NCDC2013/5 sat nav system... only other thing to add on top of that is the telematics phone that connects to the 2015 as well....
i've been absent , so, if this is pointlessly condescending, please forgive me, i'm just trying to be helpful
:D

The problem with that is the picture is so good I wouldn't stop watching it Emd as I would fear missing a programme! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Plenty of pics of one near the bottom of this thread. Can be retro fitted.Usually change hands for £300 - £400 ime. :y

-
yes they can be retrofitted..... requires tech 2 , most elites will have the loom already fitted, so you need a shiny new CID or a used one that has been tech 2 divorced from it's paired head unit.... and about half an hour to take the dash apart to fit... .... then tech 2 marry the head unit to the CID, and set up the relevant options, and away you go.....
a properly divorced CID unit with no duff pixels etc, tends to cost upward of £200 often people will not separate them from the NCDC unit, but will sell as a pair.... but beware buying one without the code !!!!! it'll be a paperweight.
-
( i note, i bought 2 , and they both ended up paperweights.... so i gave up ....... but when fully working, they're wonderful.... )
-
Lovely looking car LZ, like it a lot :y.

Thanks everyone for your supportive comments! 8) 8) :y :y :y :y :y
Indeed the colour is the big factor in choosing this one, and it seems unusual, as many have said Star Silver Omega's are so common. Usually see around three in these parts, but never seen that particular red :D :D :D :) :)

Nice one Lizzie .. join the RB club ..... :y :y... a guarantee of a car prepped to a VERY high standard, here's hoping you don't need to use his after sales service.... but rest assured if you do it is also of a very high standard :y :y :y

Indeed Entwood, I was at first taken aback by his very domestic "garage" situation, but his reputation proved well earned - so far, very good and most impressed with this car, the best Omega I have owned!
I was tempted by the 3.0 Chrysler's he has for sale, but they are all bulk and trying to be something they are not - a Bentley!! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D :y

However, having said that, his cars do seem 'a cut above' and your new red beauty appears to be a stunning example of the marque. :y :y :y

Lovely car Lizzie. CID, telematics, rear blind, a sprinkling of Irmscher bits maybe, can all be retro fitted. Some easier than others.
