He might smile for once?
He can afford not to. If I had his talent/money, I would just snarl at everyone. ;D
-
Well I presume the Scots prefer that to "British" which implies English to some.
-
Have to say, for a final, and the pressures on Murray, they are both playing great stuff.
Not to mention the heat.

I didn't think he had it in him this year, but I'll eat my words. He's learned, it seems, to overcome his emotions.
Mostly listened to it on the radio, a bit of streamed video when in 3G areas, but was home to see him actually win. Certainly sounded like a great game, more even than the score suggested.
Fair play to the Serb as well, very gracious in defeat I thought.
-
...

Very gracious :y :y
-
they have been freinds since they were 11 and still respect each other which is good
-
Fantastic match, and well done Andy, and yes, how nice to hear Novak's gracious comments. Still not worth what people are said to have paid for tickets though. :-X :y
-

I'm glad he won. 8)
Couldn't be arsed reading all the tosh that would otherwise undoubtedly be posted here saying he's a jock and nowt to do with Britain/engerland.....
Just like a Judge Dredd victim, he's been claimed !
;D. :y

Think you mean England. ;)
As Great Britain is England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland.
-
No it isn't. Great Britain is England,Scotland & Wales. When you include Norn Irn then its the United Kingdom. ;)
-
Good game, glad Murray won - he deserved to, for his persistance, Serb guy played well and very gracious in defeat.
Glad they sorted it in time for the Grand Prix as well :y

Respect to the lad if he has done that :) :y :y
Ref Alex Salmond
Great to hear Murrey mention how great the win was and dedicate it to people of Britain :y
The look on that tosser Salmonds face when he said "Britain" was a picture ;D
-
I've obviously got a vested Interest in his chosen Charity, but what Andy Murray has achieved this weekend is Inspirational and to cap it off by giving his entire winnings to a worthy cause is just fantastic! :y
-
I can't believe Cameron wants to see Murray knighted, saying "I can think of nobody else who deserves one more".
I can. Plenty actually.
Maybe Murray could get a knighthood at some stage later in his life, but to get one right now just for winning a tennis match (however historic) is just absurd in my view. ::) ::)
I smell political opportunism.

Pathetic little man >:(

Why are we so keen to pesh on a fire on here? Christ almighty. Yous lot would moan if you'd won the bloody lottery. Or worse, if someone else did.
Can't bitch at Murray, he gave his winnings away. (Apparently :-\ ) so lets find sumat else to whinge about. Oh I know, the age old waist if time, a political angle.
Where's that bus home?
(Although, on the one hand I thought that tit waving the Scottish flag behind The Pm in the Royal Box was out of order! But then on the other hand again, I did think that SOMEONE should wave a Scottish flag on Andys big day? I didn't see a single one in the crowd. Not that it bothers me of course, but I just found that surprising)

For God's sake, Gixer. >:( >:(
I'm not bitching about the multi-millionaire Murray giving away his winnings, just making a comment about a potential knighthood.
Am I unable to make any comment on here without you complaining about whingeing? ::) ::) ::)
It's beginning to be pointless posting on here. >:( >:( >:(

"I don't think that winning a sporting event is necessarily deserving of a knighthood. It takes a lot more work away from the court. More than doing your actual job".
Andy Murray. 8th July 2013. :)
-
Do feel sometimes that people just grab onto anything Cameron does, and turn it against him. He's doing a much better job than the fek-wits that have been in for the previous decade and a half.
Really don't understand why people want to go for PM, you don't get paid that much, you get a lot a sh!t, you can't take a holiday without being hounded by the press. :(
But back to Andy it's not just a single match, he threw himself into tennis since he was 11. Lot of dedication there, are there people who deserve one more? No doubt.
But there is a history of Sports personalities and people who do rather little getting them. eg Terry Wogan ::)

Of course, the media have been banging on about Murray being the first Brit to win Wimbledon since 1936, but that's not true, is it? ;)

Agree with you there BUT he is a politician first and foremost so will do absolutely anything to keep himself in the limelight and get people to vote for him :(
And drop them like a stone if it interferes with his image just like his ginger mate (can't remember her name) from the News of the World ;)
-
and? That is just like business :y
Of course he will grab on to anything like that, the Ashes coming up or the football.
You can't blame him for wanting to grab a good bit of publicity, anyone would do the same in his shoes :)

Mentioning Murray and Knighthood like that just makes him look and sound like a complete tosser.
Totally devalues what a knighthood used to stand for imo but on reflection, the so called honours list has been a joke for years :(
All in my opinion of course ;D

Since no-one has picked up on this point, allow me to point out that Virginia Wade won the women's title in 1977. :y
She had to wait a further 12 years for an honour, and when it came it was only an OBE.
Murray already has an OBE for his Olympic Gold. If he did become knighted he would become the youngest person in modern times to receive such a title.
Incidentally, I read somewhere that there was to be referendum on independence for Scotland in the not-to-distant future. ;)

Any one who lays aside so many "years of hurt" under such massive pressure, with so much determination deserves everything they get from it. "We" sit here bemoaning the free loaders, yet when a dedicated professional comes along ... Its still not good enough.
Nothing is good enough it seems. ::)

Murray deserves all the praise and respect he gets but a knighthood for playing a game of tennis :o ;D
Behave ;D ;D ;D
Lets put things into context here ............... If Andy Murray deserves a knighthood for winning a tennis match, what does the surgeon who rebuilds our servicemen and women's body's who have been blown up deserve ?
Or the scientist / surgeon who develops a treatment which enables 1000's of our kids to survive a illness ?
............. and the list goes on :)

He already has an OBE within months of getting an Olympic Gold.
Why should he get a knighthood straight away when Virginia Wade had to wait 12 years for her OBE.
The point that is being made is that this undermines the value of a knighthood which, in the minds of some on here, is deserved only after many years of achievement.

In which case "good move on Camerons behalf" :y

Who cares? A knighthood means nothing. He may be addressed as 'Sir' on the BBC, but I would still call him Jock.

Knighthood? - still waiting for mine ??? ??? ::)
