Oh sorry thought you were nearby in a tent to Newent, looking to travel from there. :-[ ;D ;D
Guess Gloucester is best for you? Think its quite quick from Paddington. As I think fast train to London then out on Great Western?

Just looked it up for ya B, guessing your travelling from Fife
Some station in Fife to Haymarket to Birmingham to Glos
Takes 6 hours and £151 :o You could drive there quicker and cost less in fuel!

Gloucester's best!
Far better served than Ledbury ... trust me fellow celt!
Then Stagecoach 132 bus to Newent.
Hourly service as per: http://www.stagecoachbus.com/PdfUploads/Timetable_32926_132.pdf

Thanks Dave and Seth. Appreciated. Did some more raking around at work today. Quite disappointed that the fare remains the same for tomorrow as well as 6 weeks advance booking!
Will look again in the morrow and see what's available.
It's circa 740 miles round trip and that's a fair bit of fuel for a weekend on the razzle - plus a drive home on the Sunday after!

No luck with travel agents? Years ago when we used to fly to Heathrow from Edinburgh, the travel agent in Rosyth/Dumfermline/Inverkeithing :-\ did deals for our tickets ......

Much easier to get to Cheltenham from that part of the world

Might be worth having a looksee how much it is on a 'cityhopper' (flying) from edin to bris, then train from bris to glos? :-\
