Title: please read
Post by: cem_devecioglu on 08 July 2013, 21:53:48
* do you feel still hungry after a good meal ?

or

* do you feel thirsty even if you drink "enough" water ?

or

* do you feel the need to pee frequently

or

or do you  feel not energetic or not enough power  mostly even if you sleep and eat enough ?

or do you have excess weight ?

if any of the questions have the answer yes

I can guarantee that you have insuline disorder less or more..

so please have those tests done asap

blood sugar levels, insuline levels and hemoglobin a1c

you can live many years with this disorder if its not in an advanced state but will eat you day by day..

and worse than that will damage your eyes, kidneys , liver and heart..

In the UK, as we're a society of fat bastards, we get hammered with this info regularly anyway :)

I have diagnosed my father with insuline defficiency after an urgent call as he lives far from here.. :(

as he eats very little portions and he is slim, no one expected he has this problem and also sugar level tests showed nothing until
we applied intranevous serum .. interestingly the blood sugar level was crazy even the next day :o

and to add that he refused to go any doctor and hospital ..  :(

so we had to call some medical people and do some thing at home :-\

plus he refuses to eat now >:(

Older grandmother died of diabetes, the other one has it, my father has it too..., yes I have most of those symptoms and I gain weight too (15kg >:( ) after I quit smoking 5 months ago after 17 years, so now I only have one choice - should I start smoking again and die of lung cancer or should I wait for diabetes to get me?
At least it's some choice... :-X

I eat shite. I smoked 30-40 a day for 35 years. At my peak, I was putting away huge amounts of beer and spirits.....most days. At 60 years old I would say I'm fitter than most.
Lucky.....or family history?

I have had type 2 diabetes for the last 7 years, thankfully I have a very good GP who knows his stuff, yes I have had to make  changes in my diet but all in all it is not bad. The advice I got was be good 80% of the time & the other 20 % have what  ever you want!I have blood tests etc every six months & everything so far has been perfect. So if any of you are diagnosed with it don't worry too much, thankfully I have never smoked & don't drink  on a regular basis.

I discovered that I had a slightly raised insulin resistance some time ago. My GP stressed that I did not have have diabetes (though my brother has Type 2), but suggested some slight dietary changes, which I have since implemented.

Following a little research on my part, I have, for the last six months, been taking an Alpha Lipoic Acid tablet daily. I had my most recent fasting blood test a couple of months ago. I haven't heard anything from my GP practice and have been too busy to visit them to check the results ( :-[ ), but they have not called me and I feel fine.

I am NOT a medical practitioner. Nevertheless, it is suggested that Alpha Lipoic Acid (R-Form), does indeed help combat insulin resistance.

I post this merely for interest and NOT as advice. Consult your GP.  :y :y

Caution:  Those suffering from diabetes should consult a doctor prior to taking alpha-lipoic acid as it may enhance insulin activity.   :y

I have to say I answered yes to all of the above questions. Diabetes does run in my fathers side of the family. He was on tablets for years and has now gone on to injections in the tummy area. What annoys me is he has never been overweight in the slightest.
But after starting the injections he has started to get a flabby tummy.

Myself I am overweight around the middle, I refuse to take any tablets. I have occasionaly used his machine for a blood test and I come out normal.

pancreas is a weird organ you can never estimate how it will behave.. but when you start injections it makes your tummy bigger :-\

I have the test and was slightly high (pre-Type 2), and looking at the most common things to cause it, one of the most obvious for me was sleeping less than 6 hours a night. This I have corrected. I must go and have another test at some point.

I have looked into alpha lipoic acid and if on my next test, my insulin response is still pre type 2, then I may look at taking this.

Diet wise there is very little than I can improve, at the moment I'm losing weight where I always find it easy during hot weather. I get a reasonable amount of exercise, but could improve on this and I make sure I spend at least 10-15 minutes in the sunshine every day for vitamin D production. Recent research has found a link between type 2 diabetes and vitamin deficiency.

Forgot to mention that I take Vitamin D daily as well, Rods.

One of the best things for me was getting a dog! Every morning, come rain or shine, I'm on a three-mile hike (fast walking, not a stroll) with my chocolate Labrador. Down two inches on my waist and back to my "fighting weight"!!  :y :y

Bless the pooch. ;)
