Title: Commodore to Omega Conversion
Post by: JiMbOb789 on 19 May 2008, 21:27:18
Hello, as some of you know, i am emigrating to New Zealand and my 1st choise is to ship over my Omega i got now but as some of you have said it will be very expensive, i am going to buy a 5.7 litre 2000 Holden Commodore.
'106Rallye' gave me the idea of shipping over some facelift omega parts (lights, front and back wings, boot, etc) and fit them to a commodore.
This is an example of the commodere:

If you look at the body panels, they are just the same as Omega panels.
As it is, i am not to keen on it and is a bit too expensive so i was hoping to buy a cheap, boring one with no spoiler and fit omega parts onto it.

Do you get what i mean?

Anyway, how easy do you think it will be?

I seem to remember that although similar, Holden has a wider floorpan...

just had a look now but couldnt find him, what was his name?

Lucky aswell because i am moving right by queenstown which is christchurch :y

If the floor pan is wider, i might have a problem with boot and bonnet but wouldnt the wings fill up the gap? :-/

I have a sister in law who lives near there. Greenpark overlooking Lake Ellesmere. Sadly my brother passed away 3 months after emigrating there so didn't really get to enjoy it.

im sorry to hear that mate  :(

I cant wait to move out there though, this country is way too expensive and i dont mean to offend anyone but too many immigrants.
I know i will be one but i will be working with english scaffolders and english people so i wont feel so bad :y

i got the specs for both cars and it looks like i have a problem.
Look at the width + length

The commodore is wider and longer, looks like this might not work :(

What do you think?

Know what you mean mate. Ironic really, my brother spent about 7 months trying to get enough points to be able to emigrate. Sold his house in Tackley near Oxford, his wife got a job in Christchurch, and as he was ex RAF (retired) and they had bought a big bungalow with 13 acres cash, he thought i would be a doddle. No way. Took ages. They seem to just walk in over here! >:(
