Title: MotoGP Sachsenring.
Post by: albitz on 12 July 2013, 14:35:32
Lorenzo has crashed again. Xrays indicate he may have damaged the titanium plate in his shoulder.
Crashlow has binned it - again. ::)
And fastest man in Fridy practise was - Stefan Bradl. Maybe due to most of the others crashing or running off the track. :-\

I thought that was why they have the best available leathers and body armour, so they can try a bit harder and test them.  :o :o :o :o

The occasional "off" shows commitment. I would imagine he must have crashed at least once every race weekend this year (similar in previous seasons) which suggests to me he is brave, but maybe just a little out of his depth at the sharp end of the MotoGP grid, and imo theres a lack of intelligence there as well.
As Ive said before,I hope Im proved wrong about him,but I really cant see him winning a championship as long as he has a hole in his arris. He just doesn't have that level of ability as far as I can see.

So of all the riders to crash, only Crutchlow hasn't got the talent or the intelligence?

What utter drivel. He'll never win a Championship on a non factory bike anyway, so an easy comment to make. A well loaded, and indeed worn out comment at that.

Crutchlow crashes almost more than the rest put together. He crashed twice today btw. Hes on the 5th best bike on the grid btw,so he isn't exactly dragging it up to places it shouldn't belong. Its a damn good bike.,just not quite at the level of the Yamaha factory bikes, but not that far off either. Im not saying he wont win a title on that bike (that's obvious) Im saying that he wont win a title on any bike.If Yamaha or Honda gave him a works bike I still don't think he would win a title on it.
Im simply making a judgement based on 40 years of watching bike racing, but as I said.I may be wrong. And if I am,I will be happy to hold my hands up.
It would be great to have the next Sheene come along, but Im not going to support Brit riders to the point of losing judgement just because they are brits.
Hes a good rider, very good actually, but you need to be better than that to be a winner at that level.

Btw. Apparently Lorenzo has been ruled out of the race, which is a shame. :(

More Rubbish. Dear oh dear.

Look. It's quite simple. Its a championship. Decided by points.

Made up of two factory yamahas, two factory Hondas. All the rest are either out of it, Ducati, or satellite bikes.

If Crutchlows championship position was consistently 6th or lower then I'd agree. But it's not. He's averaged 4the for a year. Certainly his position this year is 4th, so far.

This means he is punching above his weight and beating factory riders.

Further, if he was 5th, he'd still be the next in line. Any other thought process is purely political delusional.

The championship doesn't lie. It may well change with Rossi's probable return to form, but it doesn't lie!

He may well not win a championship but he's already dicing with the top riders as it is. Early in his career and on an inferior bike to those above and below him. There's no way Yamaha are going to give an advantage to non factory riders easily.

Pull the other one. Sigh....

I could reply to each point one by one,but then this will be yet another one of those everlasting threads, which turns sour as soon as you post on it. It always has to have a degree of personal insult and condescension from a perceived position of superiority.
OOF spirit may be important when its convenient, but never as important as gratification of the enormous ego.
Sometimes I forget why I try to stay away from genchat, and then I get a reminder.
Time to leave it alone again I think.

Crutchlow's qualifying performance shows that he is more than capable of putting very fast laps together. He seems to struggle to put 20 odd together without any stupid mistakes. I agree he is doing well, but he will need to up his racecraft further (like Pedrosa needs to) if he is going to stop being a nearly man and turn into a consistent winner.

Personally, I would like to see him on a top factory bike for a season to show if he has what it take to become a winner. I think he is doing enough to be given such a make or break opportunity.

Unlike Toseland, each season he has pushed on and improved. Bradley Smith now needs to push on and start getting consistant top 6 finishes to justify having one of the best satellite bikes on the grid.

I freely admit I don't want Lorenzo to win championship again, however I wouldn't have wished those injuries on him either.

He did too. Awesome :)

Nasty crash for Pedrosa, it just would not turn in on a cold tire. Ping! Like an invisible force lifted him off the bike and dumped him on his left shoulder. So quick he was still riding the bike until he hit the gravel trap. Ouch!

My guess is that he will lose several places in the first few corners. Hopefully he has the confidence now to let that happen and stay on the bike until the fuel load drops. :y

I predict lots of crashes. Those patient enough to let the race come to them will pick up points. Marques will probably lead the race by a significant margin until he makes a mistake........

Legend beaten to third.

Fair play Cal Catchlow. Awesome ride again. On a clearly slower bike down the straights too. But still managed to pass the Master. 1st Yam home. :y

Excellent result for Cal and the first UK rider since Barry Sheene in 1982 to get 4 podiums in a season. Lets hope he continues to improve and gets a win this season.  :y :y :y :y

Absolutely Rods. He's doing it all on corner speed against factory power, so all the more impressive. Deserves a win, however difficult. :y
