Do you mean the expansion valve Chris :-\ Omega`s don`t have an expansion "orifice tube"

Possibly, I am quoting from the Compressor supplier who say on the invoice "Always replace the Expansion/Orifice Tube and Receiver Drier/Accumulator when replacing a compressor..." :-\ :-\ :-\

Right, I've just read that through, and as my system was working OK when it had gas, I'm assuming the the Expansion valve is probably OK. I think they are covering themselves in case the compressor change was due to system failure rather than a leak. I'll leave it for now, as if it does need changing, the extra cost should only be the valve then a regas. :y :y :y

As Mark says, when my compressor failed (5 years ago) it spread crap throughout the system, we poured what looked like a sludge of iron filings out of the filter/drier. The expansion valve was replaced and when we blew some fluid through it more sludge came out. The system had to be flush cleaned for about 2 hours before all the sludge was out. IIRC total bill was just shy of a grand .. :(
