Title: New arrivals in the Brailsford househole..
Post by: aaronjb on 17 July 2013, 11:05:35
Er, 'household' even - although for those that have seen my back garden the typo is quite apt, so I think I'll leave it ;D

Anyway, I know how you all love domestic rodents cats so much, here's our new arrivals:

Bernadette (Bernie) on the left and Penny on the right. Points (but no prizes) if you know where the names came from..

Fortunately for now we have my other half's little brother staying with us, so he spends his days corralling them around ;D

I am excitedly awaiting the first cable getting chewed through, though ;D

I think they've already had a look in at the curtains behind the sofa ;D Still, as long as they're not leaving little presents behind the sofa!

The thing they most enjoy running up, however, are my shins when I'm in shorts - and Bernie's claws are like little hypodermic needles!

I hope Mrs Gixer doesn't see this. ;D

Although, our Maisie needs a companion since Gizmo died. :( so we will probably be looking for another little monkey to add to the TWO we have now. ::)

Ours don't get out of the garden to keep them safe, so needs a play buddy. :y

Strangely enough, we are currently looking at new cats as our 16 year old little princess is making her final trip to the vets on Friday morning (see another thread)... They are incredibly cute :y :y

Enjoy them and the warmth , affection and presence they bring to the house .
For some reason my wife seems to believe that when we lose a cat it has to be replaced with two..........hence we're currently tending two Bengals and two Siamese  :)
Interesting times as three of them are Toms !

They both look beautiful

We had to have our cat put down on Friday. She was well at the beginning of the week, but I took a living cat to the vet on Friday morning & went home with a dead cat in the afternoon.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

When ours went we couldn't bring him home(I'm too bloody soft to bury him) so had him cremated and the ashes sent home for burial in a little cask, needless to say he is still on the sideboard at home,we have a new cat now but still cant bring ourselves to do anything about it, and that was nearly two years ago :-\

Female? And if she will accept a trial period of a week or so, in case our current cat takes dislike...? Although I'd be amased if they don't get on, Massie just wants to play with everything. :)

As usual. ::)

May hasn't been quite the same since Gizmo died. Keeps calling for something. Attention or pining we're not sure. Plus we are all used to having 2 cats around the place.

I remember visiting Max at his house a while back. Tiny little ginger thing running round the place, hanging off the back of a chair by one claw, usual stuff. ;D I defy any human not to melt into coochy coo'es once confronted by a "Big bwave lion" "I can wun and jump and stick claws in anyfin. I'll even bite your finger off... ... Or try" ;D

he's grown a bit since then Chris,   but the mangled remains of my right hand bear witness that he's not changed.....  ;)

sadly our Gizmo  (White and silver tabby boy) died recently as well.....   about 3 months ago,   he got a urinary tract blockage,  and coz we were busy out and about at work a lot,  , and they mostly use out doors for their business,  we didn't realise until he was very poorly indeed,   took him straight to the vet, they operated, but he died of a heart attack without coming around,  due to potassium poisoning because of the blockage...

heart broken,....    he was a pillow stealing fuss pot....    kept me company a lot when the mrs was working nights....

down to two now...   Megan (the white female leaver of much hair) and JJ (the ginger nut job you so fondly remember)

(I stupidly went to intervene in a fight with next doors cat....   JJ is determined to rule the street with a ginger fist since taking over Gizmo's role as alpha male in the household, and he took exception to being picked up , and promptly did a number on my right hand.....     it's gonna leave scars....  :(  )

Ooh I bet that smarts.

At about the age of 6 we had a ginger kitten in the house. Maybe 9 months old. We also had a dog. Big fluffy thing. Called Fluffy funny enough.
One day the dog walked into a room, cat got spooked, made the dog jump, which scared the cat more, fight broke out. I tried the pick the cat up to keep it out of reach of the dog. The cat saw my arm as a ladder and escaped from the dog by running up my arm and clamping onto my head screaming and yowling at the dog.

I was a mess and screaming too after. Basically the cat stuck its claws in my head and wouldn't let go. MUUUUUUM  ;D

Max, Andy & LD - so sorry to hear about your losses :( I remember well when my last cat (ok, technically I should probably say my parent's cat!) died, and that was 13+ years ago now.

Chris - I'll check on the sexes of the two she has left, I think the mostly black (with a little white) one is a boy, and I think the almost all white with the odd black spots one is a girl. They're currently over in Virginia Water and I'm sure she'd be fine with a trial; one was due to go to her neighbour and as they have another pet she insisted on exactly that.. sadly said pets did not agree so no cat for her neighbour!

My better half is increasingly unsure about the kittens, unfortunately - she's not great with animals in general and won't handle the hamster after the 'droppage' incident even - so there's a chance there might be two more available..
