Saw one of these today on the road lovely looking and sounding beast.. This Series of E class not necessarily the E55 but it just looks that little bit more juicy...

Odd number plate though :-\
-
On Teesside there would be a drug dealer in that................ ::) ::)
-
I was hoping to get a S500 to replace the BMW, but at the price range ~£3k, they are all rotten.... A ten year old car!!!! Why do Mercs do that? :-\
-
When are you getting one.

Probably never, They keep their prices too well :-\

Aye seen many 90s Mercedes for sale with rust on them, Front wings and doors mainly on the 90s E class Mercs that i saw. Even the E55 AMG shocking :o :(
-
Nice car ........... but I'd have to get the wheels sprayed silver again. :y

;D ;D
But black wheels do seem to be the latest trend. It just looks like your wheel trims are missing to me though ;) :y

Is it me or does it look ordinary ::) Nothing very stylish about it considering its got the crown jewel V8 in it :(
-
Can't be doing with the styling of that era. Specifically the headlights. They're just wrong.
Is there a cross over point with Mercs after that point of manufacture? (Ie when the headlights changed, for example) where they came out of the cheap build quality idea, sorted the front geometry out and re styled it...?
Or is it not that simple?
In other words, I'm under the impression there's a certain range of model years its probably best NOT to buy. :-\
-
One of my customers has a CL55 AMG on a 03 plate :-\
Pretty sure that was the changeover year for the headlights.
Talking about them falling apart, he has had both rear side panels replaced and a full re spray done under the 10 year anti corrosion warranty
-
If I was going to buy a Mercedes it would have to be one of these (at least if we're talking about cars within the realms of possibility; otherwise clearly it would be the SLS ;D):

Mercs of yesteryear had a reputation for being hewn from a solid piece of granite.
Today, I'd say they're no better than your average Vauxhall or Ford. :-\
-
Massive brakes.
Black Estate version of the c63 would be nice. ;)

Actually yeah, I'd take an Estate.. though I've only driven the Coupe I presume they handle more or less the same, and the Coupe is a complete hooligan of a car - a great deal of fun!

Or three :y
Quite a formidable car in its day 8) Even now a good one will embarrass much newer machinery... which is nice :y
285bhp, 400lb/ft of torque, top out at 140 or so, but they do have the aerodynamics of a house brick ::)

I think I'd have to kind of agree. ??? ??? ::)
My R Class is a brilliant drive .... but it's a lard arse 4x4 ...... but even though my Omega has more than 3 time the miles on the clock, that too is a good drive - in a different way. If I could drive the pair of them at the same time, I think the Omega would give the R Class a good run for it money. I know I'm comparing apples with oranges (ie diseasal with petrol), but there are times in the Merc I'm shouting at to 'come on .... move' especially when you really want it to get a move on ie joining a motorway. :y

It amuses me how magazines etc quote power in bhp & torque in Nm, mean while we put fuel in by the litre & work out fuel consumption out in mpg ;D ;D ;D ;D
