Title: Replacing the standard audio with a single line cd/mp3/bluetooth head unit
Post by: SR-71Blackbird on 24 July 2013, 13:43:58
Hi all,

Does anyone have any pictures of a replacement of the standard audio controls for a cd/mp3/bluetooth head unit?

Is it an easy procedure to do, I'm thinking of getting my local audio place to do something.

Thanks

Half hour job tops :y

Old unit out, possibly plug in adapter loom, fit new facia panel and cage, plug in new stereo, check it works and simply push into slot :y

Are there any pictures of ones after they have been installed?

Be some round here somewhere :y

Meant to add if your car is fitted with a Bose system, then the job gets alot more involved, as the system isn't compatible with anything :-\

If you have Bose, you need to replace the amp, and all the speakers, in addition to the headunit.  Obviously the display will be a tad miffed as well, and if GID/CID, become unusable.

To raise an old topic from the dead :)

Im going to be replaceing my Bose set-up in my Elite and have the display adapter/steering controls adapter for a Sony H/U. This is currently fitted in my Vectra that Im stripping, would the display adapter and steering control adapter work with the Omega's wiring...?

Or is it a case of suck-it and see...?

Vectra B or C?

I swapped the soundlink/ Autoleads steering control adaptor from my 96 Vectra B to 99 Omega and it all worked fine, then put it in my 00 Facelift Omega and still worked fine - was a Sony hu btw

So would errr on the side of yes if its a Vectra B
