Any idea who stocks GM approved engine oil, apart from the stealers? Asda is selling 5L of 10w40 semi synthetic (ACEA A3) for £10, would this be any good?
cheers

AndyC can do GM 10/40 on trade delivered, but he is away this week.
Halfrauds doing similar deal currently, can get 5w30 Fully Synth for £10 a bottle, so £40 for 4 bottles.
If you have a trade card you can get a further £2 off 8)

I have a 2000 (pre-face lift), 3.0 MV6. Do you know if that will require the paper element or the canister?

Paper at that year.

My 1999 pre-facelift has a paper element. If you look up inside the passenger inner wing you can see the filter. I would think that yours is the same as mine unless someone has been fixing something that doesn't need fixing.

You'll only get GM oil from a dealer.
The filter at that age would be paper element, but for some reason I can't quite fathom, some people swap it out for a spin-on style canister, so before buying, visually check :y
Not sure who makes Asda oil - I have used it in mine when on hols, but dumped it as soon as I got home, as there was a small tendency to mayo (but I was doing some short (and longer)) journeys, and it was March.
