What does the code 'API-SJ/CF' mean on engine oil?
-
http://www.salemboysauto.com/original-faqs/faq-29.htm
-
API - American Petroleum Institute certification
SJ - Petrol Engine Category, for 2001 and older car engines
CF - Usually for Diesel Engines, introduced in 1994 and now considered obsolete.
Thats according to API website.
Quote from other site -
Product Data Sheet Engine Oil API SJ/CF
It is engineered to exceed the demands of today's high performance engines that operate under more severe conditions for passenger cars, light trucks, vans and sport utility petrol and turbocharged engines.
This engine oil is also formulated to meet the severe conditions of engines running on LPG/CNG and is extensively field tested
However not sure date of that quote - may be a few years old.
You need to look at any other certifications that come with the grade of oil you are looking at
