No landline phones and many without Internet connection in our village, apparently due to a rather large cable theft a couple of miles away.......... :-X :-X
Can live without the phone, and have the Internet so fine here.......... :y :y
-
What on earth is a 'Landline' phone? ;D ;D ;D
-
I wouldn't know. Our village has about 70 houses. None have landline phones or copper Internet or fibre for that matter. Never have and never will.
Very common in rural Spain.

I've still got a set of Semaphore Flags in the shed if needed Mike ;D ;)
-
I don't understand why we can have no phone but have Internet, initially, when swmbo reported it the test suggested it was a fault at the house....... ::) ::)

Might be as phone/Internet isn't 100% integrated yet in Britain that the cable theft only affects the phone infrastructure from your exchange back to the node (head office)

They just get on with their lives? Watch TV, talk, play cards, go for a walk. It isn't BT's fault. If there is an emergency a neighbour will have a mobile phone. Hopefully younger folk will be checking on elderly folk living on their own. In fact hopefully they will be doing that anyway cable theft or no cable theft.

You may find, no matter how annoying it is that the wankstain pikeys have nicked the cable, it may bring the local community closer, as has happened in other areas.

Yes, pretty much that kind of village, same in the bad weather, we tell next door when we are going shopping and they tell us what they want.... ;) ;) Have noticed a deterioration in his health last couple of years and many more visits from their children, who must be helping with the shopping cos they get it delivered now from Asda...... ;) ;) :y
