sounds like a loose heat shield !

Anti rattle plates on the back brakes is a possibility as it does sound like tin cans rattling like i had . When inspected the rattle plates had corroded and almost falling off :y

Not wishing to panic you!
A couple of years ago on the M25 the cam belt shredded,I heard a noise like can rattling when we left Dorset(only when the windows where open),checked it over but couldnt see anything, done the obligatory 70mph on M3!! ;) and all was fine until we got into traffic on M25 and then heard it again(the rattling) then pop the cambelt went in the outside lane! :-[
Water pump had seized and done the damage! :'(
Just a thought! ::) and sorry if I am (hope) totaly wrong :-X

anti roll bar/ drop links
:y :y
to the op - were your new drop links cheap pattern parts? If so thats probably your issue

Hi all,
Many Thanks for all your replies, and suggestions.
I wasn't joking when I said all new parts had been put on the car.... New Cambelt and Water Pump, changed at 96.000 and it's only now done 106,000. Heat Guard checked, All new Brakes and all double checked. Double checked guards.... New Droplinks were from Vauxhall... Had all new brake fluid and new lines, it may be a couple of those touching but I have taped them together now... Haven't taken it out yet so not sure if that could have been the issue.
Thanks,
Ree

common ive found on lots of vauxhalls is brake pads rattle when handbrake released, when driving and rattling starts try applying brakes or just pull handbrake slightly so preasure applied(not to lock them as this would be dangourous) hth and cures your problem

Last summer i had the window down and also heard a noise, more jingly than rattley though ,checked loads of things and turned out to be broken rear spring, only a small bit on the end was broken off but enough to cause noise on bumps. Only a thought but might be problem

But the handbrake operates shoes inside the disc on the Omega (and most Vauxhalls actually) ;)

I agree... I broke the pig tail off a rear spring about 3 weeks ago and have exactly the same noise :y
