Title: Dodgy climate panel...?
Post by: chrisgixer on 02 August 2013, 09:39:20
Ac flat put last night, lo or 16 showing on the display. Bit noisy while talking so turned the fan speed down one. No response. Down again, nothing. Down to minimum fan speed. Still flat out going by the noise. The display responded, but the fan speed and certainly the noise changed not a jot.

Faulty?  :(

I should add, I have noticed that the cc on this car is not as responsive as others I've had. Its been tech 2'd and nothing obvious found iirc. Its was suggested the sampling sensor may have failed.
Sun sensor not working.

Has it had the firmware update? Sure it must have. Did we enable the less irritating fan mode at the time? :-\

There isn't a sampling sensor as such on the facelift, AFAIK. It has the outside temperature, sun sensors and temperature sensors in several of the vent ducts, hence it hasn't got a scoobies what the actual temperature in the car is. Probably why it needs as much tinkering with as a 3 knob manual system, IME ::)

I've never come across a situation where you can't set the fan speed, though.

Its probably one of the most tech 2'd cars on here so I'm sure it must be all up to date.

The fan speed and temp does adjust itself once the cabin approaches the set temp, so I guess it knows the temp in the cabin in some way...? :-\

...it also adjusts itself if I turn the temp up from a low setting, so it responds to the temp setting I ask for. But won't interrupt that if I lower the fan speed. Odd.

Sounds like it needs the setting changing that calms down the speed control. Would have thought I'd have done that, though, unless you told me that you were delighted with it as it is and not to change it?

I might have done :-\  I never touch the fan speed normally, as it just takes longer to reach temp.

Cheers Al. Can't hurt.

Although sounds like it might be normal. :-\
