When you select a gear does the correct number light up on the indicator next to the gearstick?

Did the problem come suddenly? or have you noticed problems before?

Can you get drive by manually selecting 3/2/1? or by pressing the snowflake button?

it sometimes had moody moment after run where it would take a while to start then when I finally got it to start I would have to wait for it to build up revs it finally died on the motorway yesterday I lost full power but got it home when I went to start it again it fired up but not forward operation

What do the autobox light do, as suggested above?

How many miles has it done?

If all the lights are on then that points to an electrical problem. Cleaning the switch is a good place to start in that casehttp://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90673.0 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90673.0)

Lack of transmission fluid can prevent the clutches from engaging fully. If caught early the level can be topped up and no harm done. If left the clutches will wear out (causing lack of drive).  :(

The autobox has a plastic thrust washer which can fail - not sure what the exact symptoms are - somebody who has had the problem will doubtless let us know :-\

Finally, the AR25 autobox isn't really strong enough for the 2.5 diesel. The 3.0 & 3.2 V6 Omega was fitted with the stronger AR35 autobox. Lots of Omegas are being scrapped and a good AR35 autobox can be bought cheaply & is a (relatively) straightforward swap. I think there is even a guide in the maintenance section showing how.
