X84GNB 2000 2.5 manual petrol estate
On changing my cam belt I had planned to replace the cracked cam belt cover with a spare I took off a scrapped 1999 3 litre. It fitted all right, but I could not get the auxiliary belt tensioner on. I replace the original cracked cam belt cover and the tensioner went on The cam belt covers looked the same. This puzzled me.
This morning I wonder, would the tensioner off the 3 litre have fitted? Do they differ?

2.5/3,0 should be the same part.

There's a bracket on the same bolts. Could that be interfering with the fit?

The bracket on the lower bolt for the wiring harness guide was no trouble. It seemed as if the new belt cover was too far forward to allow the bolts to engage in the threads. I put back the old cover, bolts went straight in. Covers looked both the same.

Thank you. So would the aux belt tensioner off the 3 litre have fitted with the 3 litre cam belt cover, or are the threads in a different place on the 3 litre? I think I kept the tensioner off the 3 litre too, but it never occurred to me that they might vary.
