Title: BACK TO OLD FAITHFULL
Post by: footloose on 07 August 2013, 10:28:03
Hello. Just got my Omega re taxed and back on the road. The old bird has been in my garage for a few months as I had bought a Jag X Type 3 lt. I couldn't get rid of the Omega 3lt. Just couldn't do it. The Jag seemed like a very nice car. bloody quick. BUT. When I got to know the car a bit I started to notice that things were not right. I suspected a wheel bearing was a bit iffy so I jacked the car up the jack was going up but the car wasn't. The sills were rotten and  the floor too. Got that fixed. Then I had to have the tracking done. Fine for a few days then all this racket was coming from under the floor at the back. I now seem to have problem with the rear drive. So the jag is now in my garage ready to be fixed. Its an all wheel drive and the geometry is very sensitive. I started the omega for the first time in a few months and she started straight a way. Bit clattery for about 3or4 minutes but now as quiet as always.  I did get a bit of a shock the first time I used the brakes. But every thing is fine now.  So anyone contemplating buying an X type. Go over it carefully before committing. I have to say it was a fun car to drive. See off a lot of the boys with noisy exhausts. 0 to 60 in 6.5 secs. quiet to drive in the cabin but don't go over any speed humps it will fall to bits.

Every time I jump in my MV6, that I'm not normally allowed to use, its just like being at home again.

The first Omega I had was the same model as my present one and it was a nightmare. This one has given me no trouble at all. A little beauty.
I do have an exhaust leak But easily fixed. I am hoping that she will last a few more years yet. She has done 123000 miles and I do about 3000 a year.
