Not the best choice of words, and poor PR,but as he just said on SKY news. It has drawn attention the the much more important fact that this country is sending £1 billion per month overseas, with no audit trail whatsoever. ;)
Nige has told him not to use the phrase again. ;D

Precisely, Cleggy. And your viewpoint is very well reflected by James Delingpole:

He was interviewed on Radio 4 this morning and said that if he had caused offence to anyone in Bongo Bongo land he would personally apologise to their London ambassador if they were to be present in the court of St James!!

The point about audit trail is totally correct and needs urgent attention.

Yes, and while we're at it, there's the subject of the cash we throw at the EU too. ::)

At least 40% of the foreign aid money goes via the EU. ;)

Actually I agree with much of what he said and I had a wry smile when I heard the term 'Bong bongo land' and the predictable outcry!!  :)

However, if UKIP are serious about getting elected to office in this country then they need to get rid of the idiots who think it's OK to use a phrase that probably hasn't been appropriate for someone in public life to use since the 1930's!  ::)  or if not get rid of them then they need to have it drummed into them that vast swathes of the electorate find terms like that unacceptable.  :-\

The Tories, Labour and the Libdems like to wave the racist stick at UKIP.  Godfrey Bloom has made the stick bigger and the charge of racism abit more believable in my opinion!  ::)

I listened to that with much enjoyment, and he came across very well, he certainly put the Guardian spokesman BBC interviewer James Numpty Naughtie in his place. ;) ;) ;) :y

But do they?

There is going to be a backlash about what we can and can't say for fear of upsetting some body. So let me drag my knuckles on the floor and say that I am white, am I offended if I am called white ( or honky, rasclat? etc) NO. So why are people who are black offended by the word black??? black board, black paint etc FFS. We are what we are, it is the person that is important not their Colour, Religion etc :y

The point made is that foreign aid is ludicrous and should be stopped with the exception of natural disasters :y :y :y

I was just thinking the same.

No such thing as poor publicity. Its cheaper than advertising.

I think he made a very valid point, but he could have phrased it rather better. He's not done his party too many favours there.Quite a few people interviewed on this evenings news voiced their support for the point he'd made but had reservations about how he'd put his point across.

Hes obviously a man with a sense of humour, and says a lot of things with his tongue stuck in his cheek.
The Wail have devoted a page to his utterances today, and some of it is hilarious.Other  parts are deadly accurate. He had a long career in the city, and in the 90,s wa asked to write an analysis of the single currency. His conclusion at the time was that it would start to implode within 10 years or so,he wasn't far wrong one that one.

It turns out that it's all OK after all!  :)

If the term 'Bongoland' is an acceptable adjective in Tanzania then I think it's OK to use it here as well!!  :y

I take back everything I've said!!  :P  ;)
