Title: Cat D ?

Will the insurance people put on a high price to insure a Cat D  :-\

I wouldn't have thought so - my E36 M3 was a Cat D (not that I knew when I bought it..) and that didn't seem expensive to insure; although it was only £50 less than the E46 that replaced it, so perhaps there was something of a loading..

The owner states it was a previous cat D ... Sure insurance companies ask if the car has been subject to any loss or previously written off  :-\ I think the car was cat d for minor bodywork damage  :(

Some insurance companies won't insure cat Ds. Make sure yours will.

The only big one I've come across that doesn't is Zurich.

I cant see why not when its only body damage or even just a scratch  :(

only a garage has to tell you,private individuals are under no obligation to do so.

Hi All

My daughter drives a cat D Ford Ka and its been in my family for 7 years. We've never paid anything extra ourselves.

My brother got it as a runaround and we never knew it was cat D either, although the second my old man and I saw it we knew it had been in a shunt, but my brother, the newly qualified accountant, thought he'd be clever and buy it without our help. Must say though its never once let us down and has cost peanuts to run!

Interesting , so it seems but i mite be wrong that the insurance companies will know its a Cat D or whatever .Or at least they should do ?
