Title: Anyone bought an exhaust from these sellers?
Post by: aaronjb on 08 August 2013, 20:37:02
Either this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390275318623?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Or this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Opel-Vauxhall-Omega-B-3-0-3-2-V6-Estate-Silencer-Exhaust-System-353-/251165535800?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a7aa1ee38

The first one is slightly cheaper and shows non-OE style exhaust boxes in the picture, but does show the correct twin tailpipe, the second is slightly more expensive and shows OE-style exhaust boxes, but only a single tailpipe (which could easily be a misprint).. has anyone used either before?

I can't for the life of me get eternalcar's website to list an exhaust for the Omega anymore so I looked elsewhere rather than try and get hold of them on the phone (given others reports of them being next to impossible to get hold of)..

This is the one you want http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-B-3-0-1994-2001-Silencer-Exhaust-System-/150810088684 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-B-3-0-1994-2001-Silencer-Exhaust-System-/150810088684) - may need to add chrome extensions to back box to clear bumper on facelifts :y

Those oval front boxes are much less refined than the OE style ones, IMHO. Then again, who's to say you'll get exactly what's in the picture?

What about Eternal? Did me proud earlier in the year if delivery did involve a bit of sightseeing. ::)

That's why I was looking at the second link I posted - it specifically had OE style mid boxes.. but only one tailpipe in the picture. Although as you rightly say, who's to say you'll get what's in the picture anyway..

They list nothing for the Omega on their website now (not even a boot liner) and their eBay shop only has mounting kits listed matching 'Omega' .. maybe they've been competed out of the water by someone, or they just don't always list everything. I could attempt the ol telephone, I suppose.. :)

Cheers dbug - that looks like the first link I posted (different seller, very similar price ;D), right number of tailpipes but non-OE mid boxes. Although, to be fair, I'm not sure I mind too much.. the Omega isn't doing many miles right now anyway :)

Running the first one on the list on my car right now Aaron  :)
Fitted it 2 months ago with no problems at all.
Good thing is, it comes with all the rubbers and new nuts and bolts too  :y
I've had Eternal stuff in the past and tbh, I think this is made in the same factory because it was identical to one I removed last year  :y

I had a feeling they were probably all made the same place - all the ads (from various sellers) are so similar, all sourced from Poland etc etc..

I'll stick an order in today and see what arrives next week ;) Anything has to be better than the current exhaust, now missing one of it's tail pipes (after that dropped off) and looking like a rusty bucket.. ;D

Eternal are a clam shell design. Which I Prefer. I guess it aids the double walled construction. They seem quieter to me. :-\

The one that I pointed out to Aaron is a clam shell design Chris.
The pictures are just for illustration  :)

That's what I was trying to say. First time I needed an exhaust, I ended up with one of each. Now had 2 of the clamshell ones and the car's silent in comparison.

Had ETS one on the 3.2, which looks of the same clamshell design, it had the same "P" on the centre boxes. But the Eternal on my 2.2 is silent in comparison.

TB and I cut open an old oe Gm mid section box just to see what was in there.

There's a canister that gives the innerspring skin. It's two halves, with a perforated pipe leading to the opposite side so the gasses and noise have to go back through the devising wall consisting of perforated plates sandwiching wire wool iirc. These was t much wire wool left, but it was still silent.

Explains why they are so quiet, as its a silencer within a silencer. Effectively.

But having said that, I haven't seem what's in the oval style ones, tbh.

Perforated pipe on the inlet, next to a perforated pipe on the outlet with some wadding shoved in-between for good measure. I think they are only a single skin.
