Just received my road tax £280 :( Last year fully comp insurance was £284 due end of November. If it's the same, next years road tax will overtake insurance premium ???

Someones got to pay for all the very cheap or free diesel and low emission cars on the road. And as usual it will be the driver of older cars. We got to suck it up or buy a tiny car or a diesel.
Sickening really.
What will really please you is a 3litre bmw diesel pays a lot less road tax than an Omega or even an Astra. Just because it is done on CO2, do it on particulates and it would be reversed.

I totally agree, as soon as governments started offering bribes for low emission cars there is only one way they can recoup
the money, ands that,s by screwing people like us who run and cherish older, bigger cars. Shame :'(

Funnily enough, after buying all the bits to sort the Omega out today, I looked at Autotrader (for something else entirely) and realised I could get a 330d Touring for a few grand.. suddenly the outlay on the Omega looked silly :-[ Still, never mind! ;D

At least this way people might still let you out of T junctions. ;)

It's ok, driving the Micra for a while teaches you how to get out when nobody will let you out.. essentially, just drive out.. ;D (slowly.. it is a Micra, after all)

Ahh, but you then have the advantage of putting the fear of god into everyone. You could be that dreaded doddery old WI veteran who is blissfully unaware of the existence of the junction, let alone any other traffic, rather than a pushy estate agent just taking the ssip. ;)
