Post by: MR MISTER on 11 August 2013, 19:54:42
The engine looks the same as my zafira, most of the dials look the same and its an astra floorpan apparently. What could go wrong? ;D

You can't do that at the car people. They only put enough fuel in for a 500 yard test drive.

What about the Skoda Yeti or is a people carrier necessary?

Yes, I need a people carrier. Plus, the yeti is way more expensive. This will transport me, my family, my friends and my dog quite easily.

Bags of people room Steve, not much luggage space (but you can sort that with a roof box if necessary) and seems reasonably well put together. I'm not coming down either for or against but you're big enough and ugly well endowed enough to make up your mind :y ;D ;D

Tongue firmly in cheek there Tunnie, but you fall for it every time!!  :P  ;D

Actually I did have a look at one when I was on 'vacation', expecting it to be a badly built cart with leaf springs, but was pleasantly surprised at the build quality and luxury!  :y  I am led to believe that they will do up to 21mpg on the flat (with tailwind) when it automatically shuts down 4 of its cylinders!  :P  ;)

A lady at work used to drive the previous generation Suburban to work every day - she's part of the horsey set apparently, and it's mandatory you drive something the size of a Sherman tank around if you have a horse, it seems..

Fair play though, she always parked it between the concrete pillars in the car park downstairs - and I've watched people struggle to park a regular hatchback down there ;D

All done, pick it up Thursday. Poor salesman never got a look in.
'About you finance......'  No thanks.
'Right. Now then, supaguard........'   No thanks.
'Erm...price protection insur........'   No thanks, and don't forget the £200 you owe me from last time.

'Kinell. We'll be lucky to make a penny on this one'.   Quite right too. See you Thursday. ;D

Can't really go wrong. £17500 car, 18 months old with 4000 miles on the clock for £9799. Only downer is no spare wheel, not even a jack. Don't like that. I may invest in a space saver and jack, but where to put it?

My Citroen People Carrier did not have a jack or spare, it had a can of the spray sealant stuff and a small compressor.......... :y

Wish Chevvy would make a big fat saloon, that would drop in value similar to your new ride.

Good buy there, something to keep long term. As no doubt value will continue to fall quickly.

Turned out to be a Chevrolet Cruze.

despite the slating for all sorts of reasons ,  like reliability and crash test performance,  i really liked my Sintra V6.....    if you consider Zafira as astra 7 seater... SIntra was Omega 7 seater,  same 3.0 v6 as well......

wrong wheel drive,  but helluva thing ,  stable at high speeds,  solid cornering,  massive load carrying abilities,  get 7 people AND luggage for 2 weeks INSIDE the vehicle......

and 28mpg.  at 85-90

fan bloody tastic ,  while it worked......   but getting parts was a bloody nightmare.
