T367KHL 2 litre petrol manual 188914 miles on clock
As I depress the clutch pedal with engine running I hear a rubbing noise as the clutch disengages. While held fully disengaged there is no noise; while fully released there is no noise. With engine not running there is no noise. Any ideas?

Thrust release bearing perhaps? I don't know though as never had a manual Omega

Considered that, but it is silent with clutch held fully disengaged. Also it is not a squeal, just a rubbing or brushing noise, more like the lever or linkage brushing past a shroud or bush. But does not occur with engine dead.

Clutch bearing is only working when clutch is disengaged. So it seems it is worn.

A creak from the return spring on the pedal :-\

Yes, it is that sort of a noise. But it does not do it with the engine not running.

Worn thrust release bearing ;)

Worn thrust release bearing ;)
Thanks. I have never done a clutch, so know nothing about them. I had the impression that the carbon clutch thrust bearing squealed when worn out, and did it as long as the clutch was held disengaged. This one is silent when held disengaged.

Yep generally, but not always ;)

... the carbon clutch thrust bearing .......
If it's like an Astra's thrust bearing, it's not carbon faced. I think carbon faced release bearings went out with the Ark ;) ;) ;)

Assuming the noise is release bearing, it won't suddenly fail, will it? Perhaps it will get noisier. There is no clutch slip.
So what are modern thrust bearings? Roller bearings?

It's a sealed unit .... you can't see inside, but I would think so. ;) ;) ;)

I still don't fully understand it. If it's clutch thrust bearing, it should make a noise as long as it is disengaged. If it's clutch pedal spring, it should do it with engine dead. I am perplexed.
