Anyone have any experience of this brand? Specifically for rear disc and pad sets.
Not interested in Trade club rear pads.
-
I would avoid them. They are cheap and readily available. And that is the best I can say about them.
Buy something else.
Anything else.
-
So they're good then? :-X :-X :-X :-X ::) ::) ;D ;D
Andy... Stick to a known brand at least ;)
-
have apec disc and pads on my mg zt and must say they are poor quality
but they not that cheap.
-
Have previously fitted these without much issue :y expect the discs to barely last one pad change though :-\

Thought about EBC 'Green Stuff'? :-\
Fitted 'em all-round on ours, with no issues and very little dust either. :y
-
took a set of those off the front end of an audi A6. let's say before I took them off trying to stop the thing was frightening. replated with ATE and the difference showed how dangerous the APEC stuff was. avoid APEC
-
Green stuff could be an option. :y
What I really want is the OEM rear pads but just can't get them anywhere.
Been looking for Jurid pads (They manufacture the OEM ones) but can't find them either.
-
Apec fine for dasiy driving ;), its the pad material thats cr•• not good. Shop around lokal factors and you might turn up brembo disc's just as good as gm and a bit cheaper,
But for rears apec disc be fine,

What's wrong with trade club rear pads? :-\

Dusty without trying... but as the vast majority of my driving is motorway these days I suppose that's all you can expect.
Got OEM fronts and rears on the 3.2 and much prefer the pedal feel, but while I have plenty of sets of OEM fronts (both the early and late styles) I cannot get the rears for vented discs anywhere....
-
Pads are the same across the range :y last set of rear discs and pads that I bought came from a Vauxhall dealer in Reading, and were on the shelf :-\

No they aren't i'm afraid. Depends if your rear discs are vented or not.
You can get OEM pads (As per fitted at the factory) or Trade club pads. Which when I am back home I could locate and quote you the GM part numbers for.

Caliper and pad fittings are definitely different, pad dimensions date back to the Carlton...
I shall rephrase that slightly... Carlton pads fit perfectly imhe :y

Pad thickness is different between vented and non vented disc setups, therefore if you put non-vented model pads in a vented setup the caliper pistons will be at full travel :y

Pad thickness same for vented/non vented discs - difference is calliper width and pin length ;)

Sorry, yes your right - I'm obviously getting confused.com! It's when the dealer wrongly sells non vented discs and someone fits them in place of vented that the caliper pistons have an issue.
There are different pads listed for vented and non vented though... not sure why:-
Aftermarket (TC) Solid Pads - 93169001
OEM Solid Pads - 9193476
OEM vented Pads - 9195058
-
Different compound perhaps :-\
OE vented pads might be slotted...

Was thinking that - maybe they expected the non vented discs to run hotter than vented under hard braking so used a different compound.
No slots that I can recall on the set I fitted to the 3.2 a while back. :-\
-
I can't for the life of me remember either ::)
-
Ah! I know!
It's because the OEM ones come with the shims and pins.... and of course the pins are longer / shorter depending which ones you buy!!!!
So logically I could by OEM ones for non-vented (there's some on Egay) and replace the pins... :y
-
That'll do it :y

Ordered :)
Only took two pages to sort that out! ::)

Short that is, have you seen some of the tyre threads :o

As said, the pads are identical, its the fitting kit that varies. Obviously, only OE come with fitting kit, TC ones don't.
