So i need new brake shoes for the 2.2, as mine fell apart on inspection ::)
General thoughts appear to be Halfrauds due to Vx's high cost on these, also helps I've got trade access, but searching online and popping to store, found no brake shoes for the Omega? Although in the shop they had Shitron AX on the shelf :o ;D
Lists nothing based on either car reg:

That's why I use 'Park' ...... so I don't wear my brake shoes out :y :y :y :y
(joke!!!!!!)
-
Might I politely suggest you shop elsewhere ;D
Kids these days.... Have to do everything for them ::)
-
I can't grumble, they are original to the car ;D
Reason for asking is research on previous threads show loads people quite happy with Halfrauds sourced ones. Also handy as its close to work
-
Go straight to your local factor, and they'll be in stock, which is far more convenient and helpful ;D

been down the lokal car park doing hand brake turns and overheated them, now they fall apart, and he says they just got old, :)
use the cheapest ones you can, but you will anyway, :y dont forget fitting kit.
-
Kit? Thought just shoes? Planning on re-using springs ect.
With 25% discount on europarts, its £22 delivered. Will do me

^^^^^ This, without the joke!
Only spotty teenagers need handbrakes when impressing schlaaaaaaags at the local McDonalds. THATS A FAKT!
I know it's factual, because I've witnessed it.
Where does one buy a 'handbrake' from? :-\

the springs will be as old as the shoes,if not older, and so will the clips.
scrimp now pay more later...

Springs, like shoes I highly suspect are original to the car.

if the springs are anything like mine on the ford you'll want to replace them to cover for if you get it wrong and bend 'em as theyre under a lot of tension

Cheers, cannot appear to find spring kit though. Found standard pad kit, but not drum kit.

Cheers, so around £16 delivered, un-branded though. Think its worth extra fiver from eurocarparts.

Where did you get your springs from mate?

Never had to replace springs on my handbrakes...
-
I got Ferrodo ones from Halfords a while back (fine for handbrake) IIRC they weren't actually listed as Omega ones, they were listed for Opel Ascona but a quick check proved they were correct.
-
I've had Ferrodo from Halfords, on the shelf at the time.
-
Can't imagine it matters much given that they only stop the car rolling away when it's parked. Cheep will do, surely.
Don't know about handbrake turns but if I pull mine on when the car is even slightly moving there's a loud "clunk" and it fells like the rear subframe has been ripped off, yet it applies quite progressively in reverse. Something tells me the shoe geometry is backwards. ;D
-
Think I'll go with Eurocarparts:
1) its a known brand
2) Delivery is fast, would be here by the weekend. As this weekend is mostly free for me, others are not.
3) I avoid e-bay at all costs, only buy from there if I really have to.
-
Got it down to £20 delivered from eurocarparts, currently have an offer code of "HOT30" which gives 30% discount on brakes and service items.
Free delivery too :y :y

Good stuff :y
Let's just hope they send you handbrake shoes for an Omega, not an oil filter from a Volvo.... They really seem to struggle with picking parts off the shelf that tally with the order when i've bought bits from them before.
