Just managed to successfully delete all my contacts from both a Windows Phone and a spare Nokia Symbian N8 which was linked to update the same contacts via Exchange ActiveSync.
Yes - was able to recover easily via restore function on Hotmail account but still do not understand how it deleted from server when I had ticked the boxes that server data was to prevail. My plan was to wipe the Nokia and replace with the contacts from the Windows pkone as auto backed up on the hotmail account. Both phones now syncing fine but the ease of deletion is a concern.
Dangers of an old git getting a bit too clever.

This is the one and only reason I use an IOS based phone.

Apple aside? I think Apple included .. they've had quite a number of howlers (almost always related to calendaring, oddly) in the last two major iOS releases. One caused so much traffic to & from our Exchange servers that IT very nearly blocked all iOS devices.. (which for a company that hands out iPhones as the corporate standard phone would be a fairly major move! ;D)
I wonder what iOS7 will break ;D

Spare a thought for him. Some people's lives are empty without wasting everybody else's time with session of bullsh!t bingo a couple of times a day.
