Title: Cash ISAs
Post by: Danny on 25 May 2008, 09:28:15
My plan was to sell my omega and buy my corsa with the money from the omega, thus meaning i wouldnt have to touch the cash in my ISA, however, depending on how long it takes for the garage to fit me in to re-fit my LPG and for me to sell the car, It might not be in time for the girl selling me her corsa, meaning i'd have to take some money out of my ISA

this would mean when I do sell my omega, I wont be able to put all the cash back into the ISA since you're only allowed to put £3000 (or apparently now £3600) in for each financial year, and i've already put more than £1000 since april

since you cant have more than one ISA, does anyone know if i'd be better emptying it completely and when the omega sells, opening a complete fresh and re-depositing £3000 (or £3600) or will banks still be able to know that i've already put over £1000 into a cash ISA this financial year anyway regardless of the account then being closed??

You cannot put more than £3600 into any cash ISA in the 08/09 financial year. It doesn't matter how many you have or with which banks, the limit is still the same.

I would suggest remove as little as possible to minimise the interst you lose on the ISA  :y
