"Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: "I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated". (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh:)

That is ridiculous, you are translating from English to Welsh yet your out of office reply is only in Welsh. The mind boggles at the intelligence of this person doing the translating.

This has been around for some time, but it still makes me chuckle  :y

But it does demonstrate the unthinking click-cut-paste attitude that is so prevalent these days.

I dropped Welsh in school as soon as I could and opted for French instead. Even though I live on the right on the English/Welsh border French has been of more use to me ::)

On the "Right" side looking South to North or looking North to South  ;D

I also had to learn Welsh at school, still can't speak a word  ::) I hope to move back soon, to an area that has a fairly high proportion of Welsh speakers. I may need a few words  ???

I dropped Welsh in school like a hot potato as soon as I could, I'm proud of being Welsh but I feel that it's a dead language that's just being kept alive for the sake of it. I also purposely sent my kids to an English-speaking school as I didn't want them trying to learn everything in Welsh, when I don't have any interest in speaking it myself. A view that's not shared by many of my friends and family, where we've had to agree to disagree  :-\
