I am stood outside my mothers nursing home weighing up next steps re. a Kia Picanto left with engine running and keys locked in. Been here ages apparently and owner has not reported to care home admin. Possibly nicked but why draw attention by leaving engine running. Maybe give it a few more minutes and ring police

Driver got so bored driving it they decided to go no further and become an inmate, perhaps? ;)

Well, have you phoned them yet? ;)

Just got back - an elderly visitor with a hell of a lot on her mind emerged from the care home after 2 hours. She had not signed in nor recorded her reg number and had been with her dementia sufferer husband in his room.
She had absolutely no clue that she had left her car keys including her house keys in the car and had left the engine running. She kept saying "whatever was I thinking of" over and over.
Prior to her appearance I phoned 101 and wasted 8 minutes on one call just waiting to be answered by the police and then hung up as battery was dying and redialled on a spare phone - was answered after a few minutes and gave details.
She was looking bemused at what she should do so ended up taking her to a neighbours to get spare house key and then to get her spare car key and all ended ok.
Her car seemed ok - 4 years old with 7000 miles on clock - not bad to be idling for 2 hours solid - no temp gauge though. She had collected her thoughts by time we got back.

All's well that ends well. :y Obviously pre-occupied with her husband. :)

During the winter months, a guy in our place at work parked his car, got his jacket out of the boot, got distracted by someone, locked his car and walked in to start an eleven hour shift. When we left in the early hours of the morning, his auto lights were on and as we approached the car we heard the engine running. It had been running for eleven and a half hours and had used a quarter of a tank of diesel. :o :o He said on the plus side the heater was nice and warm on such a frosty night. ;D
The car concerned has keyless entry and keyless ignition. ::) ::)
Bore wash springs to mind. ::)
