Title: She's well happy!
Post by: BazaJT on 30 August 2013, 19:58:28
Dragonlady took delivery of a motability scooter this morning. It's a Kymco Mini LS,takes to pieces to fit in car boot 4mph top speed and a max range of 12miles.She's been out and about on it all day,so much so that at 4.30 I got a text at work to say she'd run out of battery power!!So she had to wait more than 3/4 hr for me to leave work and pick her and the scooter up to go home.Despite this hiccup she's well chuffed as she's basically regained her freedom of movement[as long as she learns to stay within range!!]

That last one is already happening.   ;D ;D ;)

Trying to persuade my Dad to get a mobility scooter so that both my parents can get out and about again, as unless I take them out they are stuck indoors. He's too bloody proud though so my Mum is stuck in as well.  >:(
He doesn't realise that nobody wants one, they NEED one to extend their mobility.

A nice set of alloys would look great. ;D

I could do with one but they are quite expensive I think?

The one she's got has alloy wheels!!but solid tyres. When delivered it had a label on the handlebars which gave the price both minus vat and with vat,all inclusive it retails at £1554!That's £300+more than I've ever paid for a car!!!It's a good job it's paid for out of her disability allowance!

Did you get this through the Motability Scheme as if so then no VAT is payable.
I'm not sure on the HMRC rules if purchased from another Retail source :-\

Yes she's got it through Motability[thankfully]I believe it works out at £15.90p per week out of her allowance.I know some of them are becoming real mega machines with prices to match, but this one despite being the Elite model!!is pretty basic all the same and I certainly didn't realise they'd retail for quite so much.
