Remember the London fogs/smogs well back in the 50s, and in the early 60s when I first started driving.  Often it was quicker to walk!

I had to abandon my car in Oxford in about '58 in a thick fog! However, the bus got me home. ??? ??? ???

They were very bad in Liverpool too. Here is a picture of our house in the fog in 1959:

I thought that was to hide your house, so the contents were still there after popping out for 2 minutes.  ;) :P ;D ;D ;D
