1998 Elite worth a few hundred, possibly 500. Autotrader and ebay are probably your best bet, if this is a thinly disguised selling thread.
-
no not a selling thread mate i just wondered what its worth as i need to warrent the money i spend on it if i do it up to her former glory as ive been told the elite 3.0 is becoming a rare car.id only sell her to an omega enthusiast whod do her up if i dont
-
The value of any Omega is irrelevant tbh. You either like the car enough to spend money on it or you don't ::)

I can almost guarantee that any buying would only buy it for breaking now :'(
Not particularly rare. Being a top model, it tends to avoid the scrapyards for a bit longer than lower models

Its not even worth buying them for that purpose now.Even if they are facelift Elites. ;) :(

I was thinking more along the lines of someone buying it to do up there own car, eg needing several panels etc.
Unless an Elite is ridiculously cheap, I can't see there being much profit in breaking them now. A finger in the air of £500-£700 to be made from a 2.5/2.6, maybe £100 more for a 3.0/3.2. On a good day. The time and effort to collect, break, sell parts and scrap, you're going to be wanting some profit...

After almost two months,I have just broken even with the current breaker.Thats a huge change from the first one, which was only two and a half years ago. Each one since has been a bit less worthwhile, but I think this one will be the one to prove the point that its no longer a worthwhile hobby. :(

Thing is, I think there are less and less people who want the bigger money parts -Full Bose setups, complete Elite or MV6 Leather, Rear blinds etc
All other parts are just luck if they get sold - someone just happens to want a the same colour wing on the car you are breaking.

Correct imo. There aren't many enthusiasts on here now,and those that are have mostly got their cars how they want them.
Its now mainly if someone happens to need a part at that particular time, then they will enquire about one. :y
A set of f/l blackleather elite seats with everything working priced at £50 would have had people fighting each other for it a couple of years ago.Now,no-ones bothered.
Ive also heard that even irmy and stienmetz stuff is getting hard to shift at anything less than giveaway prices now.Its an almost dead market Im afraid.Although its good news for the odd few people who will want to upgrade a dull Omega into nice one. :y

Omega's are old now, another problem is people who buy them generally do so because they are dirt cheap. They always were, but talking £100's now rather than £1,000's
So people don't want to spend £150 odd on say full Bose setup or HIDs - I rang Vx dealer other day for a few bits, quoted the reg at them...
"X bla bla"
Her reply? "Crikey thats an old one!" :-[

Or most peeps just buy an Elite/CDX now, as they are so dirt cheap. So little to upgrade.

Our breaker friend in Notts, still makes good money from Elites and MV6's, a lot more than has been mentioned, but He's prepared to sit on the parts for age's before he gets a return.
