Title: Head Gasket Torquing
Post by: PhilRich on 03 September 2013, 17:46:04
Can some knowledgeable Gent answer this querie?
When Torquing the Omega Head to a new gasket, do you allow a 'rest' period between each torque application?; my 2.2 needs torquing to 25Nm + 90deg + 90deg +90deg+15deg. Do I need to wait for the gasket to settle before applying each new force :-\
All replies gratefully received, as always :y

Not really, but must be done in the correct tightening sequence :y

Bloody quick off the mark (excuse pun ;))LD, thanks very much for that :y
I hope you're mending well & resisting the temptation to rush things along! :y

Personal preference, I let it settle five mins between each stage, just to get my breath back ;D

By taking my time and getting the angles right, I don't use the tolerance turn, especially with untrustworthy pattern head bolts! Ask dtm what happens with breaking pattern head bolts :y
