Is there a trick to unplugging central locking motors? It was easy before they put in door air bags. Now I try to grasp the connector locking levers, but I cannot get a thumb behind the inside lever because the air bag is in the way

Easy enough as I recall for my guide:

Also there are no airbags in the doors? Only a sensor.

Thanks. Still struggling. Do I squeeze the levers together, or merely unclip (lift up?) as your guide says. I cannot see what I am doing.

If you have removed all the metal rods and the main door latch as per the guide you should be able to move the solenoid into a postion that allows you to see the plug end.
Did mine last week but cant remember how it pulls apart, think plastic "tang" needs lifting slightly to fully release, but cant be totally sure.
I found the guide perfect to follow :y

Push them together and pull down as far as I remember :y

When I did mine I had the same problem until I released the electric cables which were clipped to the base of the door opening with these unclipped the motor will come up high enough to see clamps on plug in connector.

Thanks to all. I have got it off now. I got off the LH door motor by cutting the cable (car is to be scrapped), when I could see that I had been basically right - I had to press the two levers together and push the cable down away from the motor. I removed the RH motor without cutting anything, I simply disconnected the levers from the door lock, undid the lower two lock screws and loosened the top screw, then I could rotate the motor lock assembly away from the airbag and release the connector.
Are you sure it is is not an airbag, Tunnie? It is black, full door width and 4" deep, made by Siemens and labelled ACHTUNG SIETENAIRBAG and CAUTION SIDE AIRBAG.

It'd be a very small airbag Terry ....... ;) ;) It's a sensor to tell the airbag to go off

The sensor is quite small isnt it mine was Blue

You are all quite right. I felt behind the steel plate labelled air bag and there is nothing there. It's just a steel plate. At the rear end there is a sensor. Both are in the way of my disconnecting the the loom from the door motor.

Had that sensor out a few times, to replace Window motors & window glass. It's riveted in, so has to be drilled out. Taken it out and there is nothing to it :y
