Title: F/L Elite Roof Aerial
Post by: amba on 03 September 2013, 21:37:34
Does the standard f/l Elite Aerial only have a connection for the satnav.

I want to replace the standard aerial with a Hirschmann DAB aerial as I had on my previous Elite which worked superbly with my Highway receiver, but would still also like to retain the inbuilt satnav system and also don,t want to drill another hole into the roof to have 2 aerials.

Is there a simple solution/different aerial choice.

Saloon uses rear window demister as an aerial together with an Aerial Amp, whilst the wires in the window may be of use Im guessing the Aerial Amp itself will be out off Bandwidth for DAB, (FM 95Mhz, DAB 230Mhz).

2 choices left, replace the roof Antenna, with a combined Sat, GSM, DAB type and re route the coax feeder, or what I have done in the past for someone is to make up a 1/2 Wave Centre Fed and DAB frequencies using wire and feeder and tape it to the front Windscreen behind the Blue Sun Strip.

Can discuss more on this when we meet up tomorrow Andrew.  ;)

Yep, just to recap, use the Hirschmann Roof DAB aerial and cable set up as you have now to replace the Sat /GSM, and plug directly to the back of the Highway on the New FL, that way your still have the rear Window for FM / AM, then get yourself a stick on dash GPS Antenna and connect it to the GPS plug at the foot well (assuming thats still connected to the back of the HU), the only thing you will lose then is your GSM, which you said your not bothered about.

The bit I cant remember is what GPS plug is at the foot well? (SMA is ringing bells) so someone will need to confirm so that you can order the right Dash Mount GPS with the correct plug / socket.

And great to meet you Andrew, speak soon.  :y
